yes! been there, done that! wire has come off of reverse light switch on gearbox. one of very few wires on car that are constant live, touches anything that earths and pop!!!

try the ceramic insullation on the plugs, had a zetec engine with similar probs once, also check gap etc as this can confuse the ecu! but hey, what do i know?
