  1. Correct, sv uses a top hat spacer underneath and a normal spacer on the upright, together with a half height nyloc. (as per peters pics)
  2. Thanks, I have one side fully assembled and it all fits together nicely exactly as per you pictures. I'm just struggling to repeat on the other side. The spacers on the side that is fitted fit nicely on the other side when I was testing it all out, so I think the two spacers I have that don't fit are slightly out of size.
  3. Hi, Just wondering if anyone has any tips on getting these spacers to fit, I've managed to successfully build one side of the car and they were snug, but fit quite easily once they had been in the freezer! The spacers I have left however just do not seem to want to fit on the other side. On the upright, I can get it about 1/2 of the way along the shaft, but dare not "force it" anymore. On the lower wishbone I cannot get anything closer to a fit. I'm going to try leaving the part in the freezer over night, but I'm wondering if anyone else has any tips? Thanks Ste
  4. That is exactly my plan 🙂, the body is surprising easy to bend, I couldn't get over how "delicate" it was once it arrived!
  5. Definitely check the bolts will fit, I'm going to have to snip this part of the trim out after pushing the chasis in enough to let me get the bolt in! I think someone in another thread said you had to get biblical with the chassis to get it in! BTW I have a cardboard template ready to go on top and protect it with masking tape, but just testing things out before I use the tools! Also the Iva trim looks really nice with the red and black theme I have going on, I guess some cars it won't suit though!
  6. How much of this rubber trim is usually left over, I'm a bit of a perfectionist and want to redo one of mine now! Will I have more than enough?
  7. Yeah I thought as much too. Also not a bad idea, I may follow suit as I can't work out if it like the trim on or off the scuttle at the moment, this way I have options!
  8. For sure trimming an entire hole does look better than just the top half of the hole, and I too think trimming the lot looks better and more complete too. I actually don't mind the rubber trim either, I think it finishes it off a bit nicer as some of the paint work on those holes is not perfect when you get up close. (Obviously each to their own here!) Does that mean you also did the low bit where the exhaust manifold exits the chassis? I'm on the fence about the scuttle (dash) trim at the moment, did you glue it or silicone it to allow for easy removal? Ste
  9. Presumably this is the January 2016 version from the caterham website? I cannot find a newer version anywhere else. Presumably the exhaust manifold exit doesn't need to be trimmed either? Tiggers build has it un trimmed: Also, does the lower front suspension aperture need to be trimmed as well? I'm seeing some people trimming it all, and some people trimming a selection! It would be nice to know the exact ones required! Personally I want to trim just the top two holes, and leave the steering rack, lower wishbone aperture and exhaust aperture untrimmed, will this be OK?
  10. To add to this, I'm insured with KGM as a kit, which was done through MSM. Really does depend who you talk to. As with Ainsley above, I'll likely be moving to use AF once the car is built and ready for IVA/PBC.
  11. Adrián flux wouldn't touch mine until it had the wheels on. The chasis number was not enough for them. MSM I spoke to Janet, she knew what was what, she also told me that 55k was a price bracket before the cost goes up another notch , so we left the cover at that and saved a bit.
  12. I realise that probably doesn't answer your question either, I guess it is personal preference if you are happy to leave it uninsured, some do and some don't!
  13. House insurance certainly doesn't cover it for me, it has to be declared etc which then costs a lot more. I live in a relatively low crime area, however I personally don't want to take the risk on the basis that I've had a people break into my house to steal a car before, and as such you never know who is watching you and planning something! These cars are not cheap either these days so I'd hate to wake up one morning and have my garage half emptied!
  14. Another +1 for these. They have insured the car whilst in kit form (420R + lots + lots of options) for £356. they also give a discount when the policy is converted to a full road policy after the IVA is passed.
  15. Great advice thanks, I'll let you know what MSM quote me when I've sorted it (although there are not many companies that seem to insure the bare kit before it has the wheels on it so I'm not sure I have much choice!!) I'll be using Silverstone as well. Last time I spoke to them, you can book the PBC and also book an IVA with them (so they keep it after the PBC and present it for you at the IVA. The benefit of this is that they actually swap out parts like the brakes so you can pass the IVA, then they put yours back on. I think they do this with mirrors and other usual fails aswell). I'm going to go down this route I think, it probably means leaving the car there for about a month, but I've waited a year to get the kit, so a month more is no problem! Taking delivery of mine next week and I can't wait to get started 🙂
  16. Are you sending it for the PBC before the IVA? I was thinking about getting the PBC and IVA done by Caterham at the same time to make life easier! Also when did you first register that you wanted an IVA doing, the moment you received the kit?
  17. What price did you settle for with this, I'm in the process of insuring my kit as well. Adrian Flux didn't want to touch it in kit form!
  18. @Ainsley Are those calipers the standard ones or the 4 pot vented upgrades? I've gone for the latter and was hoping that they had the "Caterham" lettering on it and not the "7" like yours.
  19. Of course. I've done it in situ before on a normal road car with a spray paint. All you need to do is make sure you mask everything off that you don't want ruining!
  20. I was hoping to paint both calipers then use another colour for the lettering, looks like the demon one is also a lacquer too. In the past I've used a separate paint and laquer, and the laquer always eventually peels off, so I'd rather go for quality in this case as I don't want to do it again. The demon one looks good.
  21. What was the exact paint you used from demon (do you have a link?) I'm thinking about painting mine red to match the car. (still waiting on my kit here!! It's been waiting on one part, some fuel module, for 4 weeks now before they can send it!)
  22. I have both (not yet fitted) but the spa ones are much better in terms of "how much you can see"! The momos do look nicer though with the CF and are miles cheaper if you want that look. They don't fit graeareas adapters though without a bit of persuasion (and certainly don't fit the aluminium adapters that are also on offer!)
  23. I'll be on the lookout 🙂. If they had the apollos all black, without the diamond cut rim, I think they would suit the cars much better.
  24. As much as I love these wheels I'm not sure I can justify swapping them for a brand new set. Once they arrive I may feel a bit differently though because honestly I prefer these to the newer apollo wheels. I've been looking to pick up a set of these 2nd hand, with the hope that I'd have two sets, one for the track and one for the road. I wonder if there is anyone selling a set of apollos 2nd hand, which I can buy and swap with you!...
