  1. Hi Nicolas I've emailed you some pictures. Let me know if you want more or photos of specific areas of the car. Chris
  2. 1984 long chassis with cycle wings (not Q reg). 27K miles Full respray in blue metallic with silver stripe 1800 zetec, 40s, weber alpha etc 134bhp at wheels on Aldon dyno 5 speed live axle (no clunks) Hi vis hood / "bubble" side screens Cloth S type seats, map pocket, full carpets FIA roll bar 13" minilite style wheels (resprayed to match bonnet stripe) £7900 Tel: 07808 971304 or 01827 705690
  3. I'm currently stripping a set of the later DCOE 40's with the square float. I've noticed that there is a small hole about 3/4 of the way up of each of the float chambers. This is on the "engine" side of the float chamber so theoretically fuel could enter it during hard right cornering. Do all DCOEs have these holes? If so what do they do? The reason I'm keen to find out is that despite double checking electrics, float heights, fuel pump and pressure regulator the car still misses while corning hard on right hand bends.
  4. Hi Ebay has worked for me in the past - I've managed to pick up a couple of sets of XT shifters over the last year ( as well as some Suntour XC pro ones). As an alternative (and if you can get them)seriously consider the later Campagnolo Thumbshifters (small black not the large grey ones). They are lighter and shift really well with Shimano 7 or 8 speed. Chris
  5. Thanks for the advice - let you know what cures it. Chris
  6. My car has a misfire when cornering hard to the right. Hard to the left, accelerating in a straight line - no problem. It makes no difference if the fuel tank is full or half empty, if th engine is under load or at constant revs or even what revs its at. The car is running an 1800 Zetec with webber alpha ignition and DCOE 40s. It was rolling roaded less than 500 miles ago and had new plugs and leads. Anyone had a similar problem or ideas what the problem could be?
  7. Thx for the advice. As I've got a heater / heated screen and use the car in winter I've gone for a 45 amp unit from another factor. Chris
  8. I'm replacing the alternator on my Xflow (1700 / 244 cam) and have been given 3 options for a Xflow by a local factor: - 55 amp output - 36 amp - 34 amp Which one should I go for? (Phoned Caterham who reckon theirs is 45 amps?) Chris
  9. I've got a Vulcan 145 bhp spec engine 1700 Xflow with about 150 miles on the clock I was thinking of selling. Spec is 1700, new cast pistons with machined valvepockets, 244 cam (brand new),lightened balanced (with clutch), HD con rod bolts, duplex timing chain, new AP clutch. Complete with receipts etc Not sure what the going price is (I was just going to put it on ebay) but if its the type of thing you're after then email me or give me a call on 01827 705690. Regards Chris
  10. Full set of 5, with or without tyres, any condition within reason. e-mail or call 07808 971304 Chris
  11. Thanks for the response Set the front end up as standard yesterday, mine was way out with more negative camber. As expected the car seems much more stable. Regards Chris
  12. For general day to day road use I've fitted 16" HPC wheels (205/45 tyres) to my X-flow. (standard track) I'm after any recommended toe in / camber settings, as well as any other set-up advice to give a "neutral" set-up - I'd sacrifice a bit of turn in for back-road stability. Cheers Chris
  13. Di-dion fitment , any condition within reason , with or without tyres. Please e-mail or call 07808 971304 (Midlands)
  14. Thanks to everyone for the response. I've now sold the car subject to viewing and have another 2 in reserve. If this falls through I'll post again and go the e-bay route as well. Regards Chris
  15. Due to a change in work commitments I no longer have the time to rebuild my car. Its a 1990 di-dion, 5 speed box, quaiffe LSD, 1994 arrowstar suspension upgrade (flat-floored), FIA rollbar, twin 45's, stainless 4 into 1, 7" race can, ext ign cut-off, adjustable leather seats, red/ali with clamshells, 5 x 5 spoke revolutions, tonneu, wind defectors. There's everything included but the engine however the ancillories like distributor etc can be included. the car had done about 22K and was involved in a 30 mph impact with a hedge & a ditch. It requires: "long front" chassis repair from arch (£1500 - £2000 ish) Nose Cone, grill, radiator, oil cooler, scuttle, bonnet, windscreen & mounts, headlights, rear wheel arch, front wish-bones (1side), side screens- total cost approx £2500 inc vat from Caterham Not sure how to price it so I'll let it go for best offer over £1000 e-mail or call on 07808 971304
  16. Red 5 spoke 14" x 6" Revolution Alloys in vgc (Di dion fittings) . Complete set of 5 including nuts - £125 (barely legal yokos included) Mail me or phone 07808 971 304
  17. While clearing up the garage I came across some stainless 4/1 exhaust downpipes which are different to the X/Flow ones on my car. The pipes on these are ovalised where they join the cylinder heads (though stud mounts are rectangular plates). Any idea what they're off? I'd like to donate them to NTL.
  18. Gary Definately interested in the belts. Can you e-mail me off line or call 07808 971304 Regards Chris
  19. I'd like to upgrade the black interior of my '91 dion in the following areas: - black or red inertia seat belts (must be like new) - seats that have headrests or headrests for the pre S type seats I have - replace transmission tunnel carpet and trim Anything out there?
  20. Hi If these are the 5 spoke caterham design then I'll go for them. Pls e-mail me with contact details or call me on 07808 971 304 Regards Cgris
  21. Thanks to a punctured sump I need a new X-Flow engine. The cars used mainly on the road so ideally Super Sprint Spec or there abouts. I'd consider anything from a unit thats ready to use to a tired unit that needs a bit of TLC. I'd also consider a servicable block. Cash is waiting and I could collect from most locations in England / Wales. Contact me on 07808 971304
  22. I've just got my X-flow sorted....... The problem was down to air flow through the carbs. When lifting off at high revs a vacuum is created which prevents the throttle valve closing straight away. Obviously this gets worse as return springs age and linkages stiffen. To overcome this use even stronger return springs or later style Weber valves which have an machined indentation to "break" the vacuum. The problem was also compounded by the car being jetted for top end power i.e. the choke diameter being too big for accurate low speed carburation (air flow too low therefore jetting too rich to compensate).
  23. I've exactly the same problem with a 140bhp X-flow running on twin 45s so if anyone out there has any thoughts I'd be really interested as well. I've discounted the throttle cable as being the problem as its been replaced , as have the return springs in the carbs (it also has external SU return springs fitted). I've also checked that the throttle valves are secure on the spindles and that there are no air leaks on the inlet side. The only thing that has made a difference is a reduction in idle jet from 55F8 to 45F9 but its still not perfect.
