The RST V8 is very over complicated compared to some of the current V8's using motorcycle cylinder heads From experience of both i would say Russell Savoury's V6 is a much sweeter engine and giving out 600bhp if supercharged, its lighter too

A well built and highly tuned Duratec should not be using 1 ltr per 1000 miles If i had a guess i would say too many revs when the engine oil is not up to temp has worn the piston rings( this is the quickest way to wear your engine out), which is exactly what had caused of my previous high oil consumption. After the extensive upgrade and rebuild it was not using any oil and the addition of a stack oil temp guage showed how far behind the oil temp was compared with the water temp. Solution was to add a Laminova, now the warm up time has been cut in half.

Mr Zetec large stocks or not the Duratec is way ahead if you are looking for an engine to tune All you have to do is speak to the guys at the rolling roads etc I think some will go the Zetec route due to the exhaust and intake being on the same side as the K Series, but its not that big a deal to sort out Hey the diversity of powerplants and opinions makes it all very interesting and i dont think i have seen two cars the same yet

Duratec every time If you see one stripped down its no contest And the tuning potential far exceeds the Zetec I was running 250 bhp on a standard bottom end with forged pistons throttle bodies and cams Thats why Caterham went the Duratec route rather than Zetec
