  1. Evening all, so, I have Caterham rear lights and JaL front indicators with the new JaL flasher unit. however, whichever way you flick the indicator switch, all 4 corners flash! hazard switch works fine. the car is a 1990 Ford motor, so the old wiring loom. I have all cables identified and if you disconnect an green/white or green/red you do get the corresponding side to work in turn. it seems that as soon as you reconnect , the extra circuit( even not activated) causes all four to flash... Could it be the flasher unit? A bad earth( just thought of that so will check now) or something Ihave missed?
  2. Thanks for the manuals. I'll keep badgering away.
  3. Thanks for the heads up. I will check that before swearing at it! I was flummoxed by the reverse light circuit yesterday until I remembered it's an earth switch, so that runs "backwards" as well.
  4. I have the relay, I'd not considered the light issue Jonathan. So the new' uns have a light for each side?
  5. Or, has someone got a modern Caterham wiring diagram? I just need to match the other colours...Doh. It's been a long day and I have a headache!
  6. Hi all, Just opened up the box and, of course, it is all for a modern loom. Has anyone any tips on fitting LEDs to a 1990 era car? On the modern ones, it looks like the loom is split half down each side of the chassis - unfortunately, with the same coloured wires each side! Mine comes down one side and then goes across the back. The fog, reverse and number plate lamp are easy enough. I'll have to break down the connectors anyway, so could just test through them all to see what they do.... Or I could see if someone has had all the freight and can save me time!
  7. This was a factory car. Does it make a difference to the test?
  8. As I replied to Andy, if it is your possession and you can prove you have had it for a while, cars is six months I think, you complete the forms, get them approved and no hassle. We have had to list everything we own...after 32 years of marriage that is a lot! You then have two weeks to inform hmrc of arrival in the UK so you can register it. If it is a car over ten years old, it shouldn't need "approval" but will need a mot. I have just ordered some Caterham led rear lights as they have integrated fog and reverse lights...I just have to go wire fishing. Hadn't considered the emissions bit though. I assume they will go with the 1990 accepted figures? My BDR is on Jenveys with an MBE ecu so if it fails, we could put in an mot map I suppose.
  9. Hi Andy, that's not a problem. As I hav3 had it for 20 years we have done all the transfer of residence stuff. No vat due!
  10. I rather hope it uses the first registered date..
  11. Thanks, that's interesting about the repeaters on the headlamps...good idea. I think I will go with the new LED rears anyway as they incorporate everything anyway. I just have my hands full and only have two weeks from import to get the mot apparently.
  12. I am just about to bring my 1990 Seven over from Jersey and will need to mot it to get it registered with dvla. As we don't have such things in Jersey, will I need to (re) fit rear fog and reverse lights to pass? I don't have front repeaters on the wings either. Are there any Seven friendly testers in the Sudbury area by the way?
  13. Booked! My new local track, would be a shame not to...
