  1. That's a good shout. I'll have to look into one for that alone. I'm new to Seven's, and headlight glare from all the other much taller vehicles is the only thing which annoys me. In all other respects, the seven is a perfect daily.
  2. I've been wondering the same thing. I have a new thunder sports half hood too. Bought mine with the open "wrap" bag which straps got the cage. The "bag" is about 1/3rd of the roof width and open ended. So wondering if you're supposed to do as @gulf Juliet tango does and fold the sides in or roll it as you would the normal hood leaving it hanging out each end of the wrap?? Would rather not have long fold creases along the fabric, which a brief trial seems to have already left! any wrap bag users out there?
  3. Thanks @PGM. I'll keep the thermostat in mind then. The flow all looks good through the tank. All the pipes look and feel good too, coolant is flowing. today she's had a new bottle cap, and since the radiator had silicone round the bottom bolt (last owner) it's had a new radiator too under warranty. Hopefully that's cured it! appreciate the hints and tips as ever. Thank you all.
  4. Yes most of the stuff I read was K series related and involved various jaunty angles. certainly the radiator is the same on the sigma and the duratec... pressure test me thinks.
  5. Head gasket I Hope not. no coolant is clean as a whistle. I think it's more likely the rad or the bottle cap.
  6. Thank you @K7 VCT. Yes, a pressure test before ripping the radiator out is a good shout. Though it won't be at my cost - warranty thankfully, but no point if there is no need. I had read about tilting the sevens at various angles from various ends while bleeding too. But I couldn't find any consensus as to which end, then if to bleed at the heater or rad. A lot of the posts where for K series cars too. So I didn't at all. Which might be it. But the aforementioned specialist had just left caterham factory after 15yrs as a senior tech there. So assume he would know and have deployed any tricks, even if I didn't do a proper job! Onwards! Its only a cooling system - how hard can it be?!
  7. Howdo Hive mind. Hope you're all well as can be. I have a recurring airlock on my Ti-VCT sigma. Basically after a good run the expansion tank is full to the brim and the engine temps climb. Cracking the bleed bolt on top of the Rad with the tank cap off sorts everything out. Till the next run... It does this with the heater on or off. Makes no difference... So far I have: - Bled x3 myself. - System checked and bled by a Seven Specialist. - Checked all hoses and connections everywhere, inc heater. All look and feel new. - Checked the infamous blue T piece Next - I'm going to swap the expansion tank cap (it looks new, but its cheap so...) - Swap out the rad (possible pin hole and some suspicious foil tape from the previous owner over the top and bottom bolts leading me and the specialist to be suspicious) But anything else I should be checking first? Or after? What could I be missing? Ta muchly.

    Car security

Same here. Factory immobiliser, removable steering wheel and a shower cap to close up the cockpit from weather dust and prying eyes. oh and ballistic orange paint subtle it is not. I know lots of people use bike locks to lock their removable wheel to the roll cage. I prefer to have a small bag which doubles to lob in phone cables etc for longer trip...nothing tempting on display and all that. Also if the wheel is with you, short of dragging it onto a flatbed, it's not going anywhere. Softbits for 7s sell some proper job manbags
  11. Yes good chaps, great service so far from them. Buying in these times is less than straightforward, but they're earning top marks. I'll certainly go for the flywheel and 310 kit in due course. I'll drive it as is for a while first though. Learn the car etc. yes she needs some use! Can't wait. Funny you should mention stripes. They're sorting me a full set. thanks for the tips!
  12. It does thank you. Completely different cam/rocker cover for a start. And the dip stick point noted above... Nice clean engine!!
  13. Thanks @garybee. Another top tip!
  14. Great thanks @K7 VCT. Clear on the fact it's a 135BHP Ti-VCT. And that makes sense with it being described as a 270. The bits that don't quite add up are the roadsport badges on the bonnet and the dealer saying it's got 140Bhp. Perhaps a mild upgrade?! or a swap from an older fixed cam lump to the later unit?? Or a typo! I wasn't quite with you on your point re checking with the dealer if it's been upgraded. Did you mean to 310 spec? I.e the 152Bhp via cams and map? This would usually come with the cam cover plate sticker, as you say... Thanks again!
  15. Thanks all really helpful. And thanks for the welcome! @gulf juliet tango, I'll certinaly check in with Martin - thanks for the tip. going by the other comments here: Its definatley not a 125 Academy car, and has no air filers on the throttle body - so thats ruled out. It doesn't have individual throttle bodies, but the plastic manifold - so its not a 150 either. It doesn't have the 152bhp 310 upgrade label on the rocker cover, while it could hve been left off, its not likley to have had the 310 kit... Though that would show it was a Ti-VCT if it did! It does have a airbox to the outside, So most likely a 140 or a 135? Here is a small (sorry couldn't seem to make it bigger) shot of the engine. There looks to be actuators and the end of the cam cover - same end as the distributor?Look right to you @K7 VCT? Perhaps I'll need a Rolling Road to confirm the 5bhp either way!
  16. Hi all. Newbie here. Advance apologies if this is a common one and I'm just being dumb! but I've had a bit of a search, and can't find the answers. So hoping to tap the collective knowledge... Very excited as I have inbound, a new (to me) Sigma engined 7. My first. I'm trying to work out if its the older Fixed Cam variant, or the later Ti-VCT with the variable timing. Is there an easy way to tell? Without taking the head off of course... I'm told my car is a late sigma Ti-VCT with 140bhp. It was first registered in 2016, but was an owner built kit, so presumably left the factory a year or two previously. Curiously it has Roadsport badging, but is being sold as a 270 - which I thought would mean 135 Bhp?? I know the sigma has been used since around 2006 in 125, 150, 140bhp states of tune. And 135 in the current 270 and of course 152 in the 310. It's not an early 150 - it doesn't have the throttle bodies (assuming I have that right) Trying to work out what it actually has under the bonnet! I'm buying from a well regarded 7 specialist so I'm not worried. Just independently checking the details and learning... A few things here: 1. When did the Ti-VCT units take over from the fixed cam sigmas? 2. When did the Road sports give way to the 270 (I think this is around 2015?) 3. Was the 270 ever sold with 140bhp (was it detuned to create more room to the 310?) Any facts gratefully received. Looking forward to years of ownership and membership! Best Kris
