  1. I’m sure that’s correct but changing it this winter did give me another couple of undisturbed hours in the garage and that was well worth it! I might add it to my list of winter jobs every year!!!!
  2. I’m hoping to never use my tool kit too Col👍 It’s a bit like carrying waterproof trousers up a mountain, guaranteed dry weather!
  3. Yes, I know there is the potential MOT fail but you can’t see the type of bulb through the glass and given how much better they are I have taken the risk. That said, my first MOT is next month so I guess I’ll find out! Also made up a toolkit this winter following the thread from a Caterham called fern. Made me think I was a fool for not sorting one sooner!
  4. I stayed with the Orange OAT coolant on the basis that the engine is more expensive than a radiator and I can change it regularly. I have the Caterham LED upgrade at the rear which is great, the JAL front indicators and the classic LED headlight and sidelight bulbs in the standard lenses. They are so good, I am not sure there is any more value to be had by more expensive headlight upgrades
  5. I thought I'd get this thread going again as since I last posted, I have managed to do loads more time consuming unnecessary things 🙂 Radtech radiator upgrade Meteor motorsport aeroscreen and Motamec mirrors CORE adjustable suspension Better catch tank arrangement Completely over the top travel tool kit LED lights all round Magnetic plugs in diff and sump Snazzy diff and gearbox oil Hours of fun! Anyone got any other new ideas of how I can waste my time in the garage? I really want to do some kind of throttle body upgrade next but now that Premier Power has closed its workshop I'm not sure what to do about that.
  6. Excellent! Did you enjoy driving it too? I haven't gone for a centre mirror yet but after my first drive I was unsure about whether I needed it or not. Still pondering that one.
  7. So, I had my first run out with the aero screen at the weekend.......... Hell of a lot quicker isn't it!! The shift light comes on before you know it 🙂 I quite like driving it with my hemet on the road too and the meteor motorsport aeroscreen with BigCols old mirrors works a treat.
  8. Yes my nipples have now been fully greased too. I'm sure you are all relieved to hear that! Appreciate the advice as always
  9. Thanks chaps. I'm 3 years in so I'll crawl under and do it whilst it's on the axle stands. I'd better add it to my annual list too. I'm cross with myself for forgetting until now!
  10. How often do you guys grease the universal joint on the prop shaft? Just running through all my winter servicing and I noticed that it isn't on the service schedule that is listed on the club website. Just interested 🙂
  11. I fitted the meteor screen successfully but take care with the drilling. I was advised to use some wd40 on a slow drill bit and that worked really well. Lots of masking tape, loads of measuring and checking before drilling of course.
  12. This is really interesting. I fancy having a go myself in my garage so will keep reading with interest. My initial thought was to buy an industrial unit and equip it with a 2 post ramp, all the finest tools, some formula 1 spec scales and alignment measuring equipment, a couple of extra caterhams, a Ferrari dino and a Mk1 Mini Cooper......but then I woke up 🙂 It's amazing what a difference the flat floor setups I have had done make to the feel of the car and I would love to be able to tinker a bit more readily myself. Keep on keeping on guys, I might hang onto your coat tails 🙂
  13. My 310R makes exactly the same noises and I’m sure it’s the layshaft. It has been the same since new.
  14. Thanks Colin, glad I'm not the only one to make broom broom noises in the garage!
  15. The retaining channels are out of stock on the Caterham website so will have to wait. It doesn’t specify if they are different for the SV chassis relative to the S3. Anyone know the answer to that? I have an SV.
  16. Good shout on the heated windscreen cables. I’ll do something similar too. Thanks
  17. Colin I notice you have bothered with a centre mirror either. I'm unsure, so let me know how you get on without. I am a bit worried that the mirror on the post will really get in the way of my eyeline.
  18. Aha, now I understand what they do!!! I'm going to order some straightaway. How do you fit them to the top of the chassis rail? I imagine it'll be nigh on impossible to get a drill and rivet gun or anything in there?
  19. Thanks Simon. Do the retaining channels eliminate the need to take off the knee trim panels?
  20. Thanks for everybody's input on this. I have had a lovely day in the garage and fitted the meteor motorsport aeroscreen that Santa gave me along with BigCols old mirrors and the uberniche curved shims. Very happy with all of it so far. It looks very exciting and I can't wait to go for a drive in it once I've got through all the other winter jobs. The visibility seems so much better than the windscreen and I am sure it is loads better than the carbon one too 🙂 Not quite the 20minute job some people claim though. I'm not sure I would want to be making the switch from windscreen to aero screen having driven to a track day as it is quiet. faff taking off the knee trims to get to the windscreen bolts and the heated windscreen connectors etc. Anyhow, fingers crossed fro some dry unsalted roads soon.
  21. I do like that panel mounted connector option but I have been using the 12v cigarette lighter socket for 3 years now and it works perfectly.
  22. Here are some pics of my lower hose routing. Hope you can see it OK
  23. IMG_3494 2.HEIC Roger - This pic shows the Radtec radiator fitted on my SV. It is the aluminium mounting bracket on the right hand side that needs bending to ensure the flange to which the bobbin connects is parallel relative to the radiator. This may then mean that you need to elongate some of the holes in the bracket so they line up with the rad. Once done, there is no torsion in the radiator which helps to stop it leaking. I'll upload pics of the bottom hose route in a moment Graham
