  1. Only a fraction of new Caterham buyers go for the 620R and loaded at that. They are Caterham's factory build only premium car. Most went for the 310 or 420. The 310 is dead and gone. How many UK buyers want a 660cc K car? No matter how wonderful it is with its dainty handling. It matters not. Any prospective buyer will have to wait +-15 months for a new machine.
  2. I'm thinking his "loaded" R will come in not that far off £70k
  3. My pal has new a 620R on order since November. The wait is now 14 months he has been told. He's just been informed that the base price is up £3k and options will be commensurate with the increase which is circa 5% I estimate. So we are in an interesting situation. Unlike say Rolex or Hermes who are rigging the market by holding back certain products to cause price speculation, Caterham really are in an interesting phenomenon. They have a luxury product that they cannot fulfill orders for. A Caterham IMPHO is a luxury product. It is a toy. I was going to say expensive but... The interesting aspect of this is Morgan (sorry to mention that word here!) used to have a 10 year waiting lists in the 80's with new cars making well over RRP to punters who decided to flip the machine. Today Morgan are in a muddle. The 4/4 is gone with their entry level machine being the Plus Four which comes in at £70k with a few goodies and many are up for £80k. Morgan are forcing dealers to take on cars and their is a plethora of new Morgans in their dealer network looking for an owner. The Plus Six is a knocking on £100k which is outrageous. Even though there is no more Sigma's thus only a 660cc or 2ltr machine Caterham are in a strong position. The CEO wants to (obviously) increase production. However in the short term I can only see the waiting list getting longer...
  4. I was just looking on YT and there was a pick up in America with 249K miles on the odometer. No big deal. It got me thinking. Who owns the highest mile 7? Anyone up to 200k miles?!
  5. Hi chaps I'm selling a new hood and doors with arm rests with academy no mirror holes (I have a set of both new door and windscreen mirrors too if required) Link to Ebay ad but will have a deal! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275086306158

All paid. The car is being delivered tomorrow via a covered trailer. This is my 4th Caterham so I know what to expect. Especially as my pal had heaps of issues as have many others. It's all about luck. My one will probably be a disaster but one must remain hopeful!!

    New 420

Sorry yes you did say only 420. I am getting my brand new 420R tomorrow. I'm hoping it will be a "good one" but it's all down to him up there at the end of the day!

Err no. The R pack comes with an LSD as standard. Which invariably means yours will clonk, whine, fall off or fail after minimal miles. Unless if course you have a different aftermarket diff installed.

You are not alone Edo. I bought a brand new Caterham from Gatwick and the service was abysmal. They took the car back in the end. A shocking litany of balls ups. My pal bought a new 420R Gatwick and had loads of issues. Never ending.. One was the front cycle wing came away just a few days old. He rang Caterham and asked how he should proceed? They said the glue was of aircraft quality and it simply cannot of happened. He conceded immediately that his problem was miniscule and decided Caterham should get in touch with the Aviation Authorities at once to ground all planes using this adhesive!! His diff was defective clonking and screaming. One of the diff bolts had snapped. The anti roll bar links had failed. It stalled cold. It overheated. The wing fell off. The mirror fell off.
  11. Hello Gents I'm on the lookout for a late straight (non ex race car) S3. Nothing about in the interweb classifieds that really interests me at the moment. A late K engined machine could work but needs to be ULEZ clear. What have you?! Send an I.M.
  12. My vote for this cause please.
  13. Could have been very nasty in the extreme. Scary sh!t!!
  14. It really needs to be a Super 7 badge.
  15. I've seen that. I want NOS. Not some grotty S/H thing for an outrageous price! The current badge is 33 quid odd. The one I require does not say Caterham. https://www.demon-tweeks.com/caterham-7-nosecone-badge-2016-on-cat30v297a/?istCompanyId=a2904180-3a7d-4e56-b876-cf81c9512180&istFeedId=6fbc4b04-fd28-4ce1-8513-835c8f118690&istItemId=wptimmiam&istBid=t&gclid=CjwKCAiA65iBBhB-EiwAW253W2fZOYyiAS8UieU2sqoN2YCLHgDu4dfUSk8pf4s_4kC9fyPJUguHdRoCTBYQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  16. Hi Has anyone out there got a NOS one of these laying around? Thx

  18. OK. Is a new Super Seven S3 wide track? The Protech kit is a lot cheaper..
  19. There is a multitude of Caterham's and a multitude of models. I suspect my car is not as a 620R. I'm satisfied that they can provide a decent product. Their reviews seem to reinforce this. I'd go to Meteor Motorsport but cannot justify £3k plus unfortunately. Or I could get these.... https://trackformula.co.uk/product/caterham-wide-track-de-dion-post96-nitron-street-series-suspension-kit/
  20. I'm looking to fit a Protech kit to my new Super Seven. Which in effect is a 2020 270 chassis. Can anyone advise an optimum set up for fast road work? I'm thinking 250lb front and 150lb rears. What's needed is the full dimensions of the dampers/springs so that Protech can supply 4 complete bolt on units. However I'm thinking that all new 270/310/360/420 S3 chassis are the same? Am I missing something?! Help!

    Motamec Mirrors

That's a tidy solution. Alas I have no workbench or excellent tools to make up an adapter. I can also adjust the mirror on the car by loosening the locking nut.

    Motamec Mirrors

Ok thanks. I decided to bite the bullet and bought the not bad value SPA Mirrors and the very expensive DPR stanchion mounts (for what they are!) It's a lot more ££'s at circa £120 all up but it all goes together with no drilling or the potential for destroying the screen. As I was told at an early age.. "go for the last penny and it ends up costing you pounds!"

It makes sense to remove the screen uprights (one at a time) and drill/tap them away from any potential screen carnage. However I cannot see access to the nuts from the cockpit. It looks like inner a riveted inner panel will need to be removed which is a bit of a job?
