  1. I'm reluctantly selling my new unused delivery mile 420R The car was delivered in a covered trailer from the main dealer to my underground car park earlier in the year. I put the car straight on SORN and a cover was put over it for use this summer. For personal reasons I've decided to put it on the market. The car has been spec'd perfectly (in my humble opinion) with an S3 body, R track pack, 8" rear 6" front Apollo black/silver wheels, painted track roll bar, stripes and side graphics, painted 7 grille, battery cut off, clear lens pack, track suspension, quick release wheel, full weather gear plus composite aero screen, heater, rear exit exhaust, lowered floors and is factory built with a full 2 year warranty. The current waiting time for any new 7 is now 14 months due to the demand for these fantastic machines. The car is available for inspection however it is new with no faults or marks whatsoever! Car is being sold below list at this super high spec so grab a bargain given current lead times. I'm currently 6 hours in front overseas. All you need to do is insure the thing, jump in and drive away. Just remember to run it in! Machine is in my underground car park in Notting Hill where the pics were taken. Please PM me for your enquiry. My father will handle the physical aspect of the purchase. £45450 Pics can be found here.. https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/13404342
  2. Excellent. You've got a good one. Look after it!
  3. Has your 420 been OK? Any problems?
  4. I don't think Caterham give a stuff to be honest. They have a full order book. If you won't pay then there's plenty that will in their eyes..
  5. I think UK wise it's an 18 months wait for a built car. Price rise? Who knows? Caterham take a deposit and will put up the RRP in the interim which is a bit cheeky. I say just spec what you want and put yer money down!
  6. Quick question. Why doesn't the 420 not suffer from this issue? Having a Duratec. Does the 620 have a different cooling circuit?
  7. You need coal to produce the electricity to power electric cars! Meanwhile India, China, Africa etc are burning fossil fuels/hydrocarbons like they're going out of fashion and will continue to do so. I concede we (the human race) cannot go on realistically as we are but unless it's a "group" effort 1 - we are at a the receiving end of a huge disadvantage 2 - thus the whole thing is completely pointless (unless of course you follow the money) 3 - the authorities will invariably allow the wealthy to pollute as much as they want whist the untermensch will own nothing and be happy It seems the West is to lead the way in this UN2030 agenda whist developing countries are free to leave a trail of environmental destruction.. Meanwhile legislation has been brought in under Biden to have a kill switch installed in new cars from 2026 which can be utilised remotely by the authorities. https://www.motorbiscuit.com/biden-infrastructure-bill-scary-buy-used-cars/?amp Welcome to 1984!!!
  8. If EV is all they offer after 2030 then they won't have a problem with 15mth waiting lists...
  9. Hmm? I'd say 99% of Caterham's get very well looked after and rarely descend into decrepitude. Very few require a total rebuild. Only a car that is kept outside really deteriorates (under a cover or not) or one used in winter. They really do fall to pieces. The metal work rusts heavily and the alloy tends to corrode badly. The interior also degrades with damp. The current set up would be way to big for that concept IMPHO..
  10. The "new" CX ally platform Plus Fours are gorgeous things. Beautifully built. Now a pure high end luxury lifestyle accessory. A pretty trinket if you will. The quality is sublime like a Hermes bag. No more 70's black vinyl and spraying the shell over the wing piping! You need however +-£70k to turn the key. Overpriced like a Hermes bag! They are not exciting to drive. They are now a 30's shaped sports car with a bit of token timber to placate the flat cap brigade who are no longer their core market! A Seven is a superior machine for a hardcore driver. It has not strayed away from its original design. It too has got a bit pricey but I see it as much better value for money overall.
  11. I'll stick to my stinky ICE propelled 420R ta very much over a silent Caterham EVR (will that be its name?) that is about as much fun as a wet weekend in Grimsby! A confirmed Luddite to the bitter end!!!!
  12. #77 How about a whacky alternative? Keeping the old ones going instead of constantly building and buying new ones?!! The resource required to make a new car is way in excess of keeping an older machine going.
  13. So the 7 will probably end up as an XL electric go cart!!
  14. I fear you are correct Blue7 Maybe China and any emerging markets will hoover up EV production so even if they sell one or two a month in the U.K. it matters not. I'm thankful that I could even buy a 7 today (or in 15 months!) given its complete lack of safety features. It's essentially unchanged from a 50's Lotus. The last brand new 50's classic car in production. Unlike a Morgan that just retains the silhouette. Imagine being able to buy a new Porsche 356 Speedster from a main dealer! I don't want to be saved from myself. Personal responsibility has now been replaced by the nanny state. Caterham can't find a suitable 1600 four pot so lord knows how they are going to source a complete EV system that will work. How many small rear wheel drive machines are there? None! Maybe a Japanese K class electric van will come along. Even so it will be putting a motor in the front. Then a battery also in the front or in the boot. it doesn't matter what I think. It's what environmental fan boys think. Then we have the Academy series. Yes that's going to be scintillating. A silent grown ups Scalextrix! What a dystopian tangled mess of a web we weave!
  15. It's going to be very tricky for them. I think they made £20k net last year profit. Staying in any kind of profit was their aim given the Convid debacle. It's now a Japanese problem!!
  16. Wait until you maybe have to claim on your two year warranty. Easier to go for a dump in the queens handbag than getting anything out of them. Agony..
  17. Yes. The issue is the car will be soulless. Unfortunately many aspects of modern life have become achingly dull and over regulated. The Seven will be just another PC casualty. I have no interest in the BBC, the Woke agenda and equally no interest in an EV Seven!
  18. #30 To make it financially work for Caterham the CEO McDonald said they need to buy in a drive system. To engineer a set up that has bespoke tailored batteries all over the place we can assume will be prohibitively expensive. An EV 7 is going to happen. Climbing in and using a floor mounted potentiometer to regulate speed as the thing zips off in total silence is not my idea of a particularly pleasing fulfilling experience. Gone then will be the day where you drop a couple of cogs before the apex and nail it on the exit. Each to their own but not my bag...
  19. Let's not forget one thing. The cost. An EV set up will be a lot more money than a Duratec. Will prospective buyers stump up maybe £60k for an electric 7? The battery will not be light either. Caterham have to try to adapt or they will wither away.
  20. They intend to buy in a contemporary drivechain. Sure the thing will function as a car. That works for a Toyota people carrier. For a Caterham I'm out. But as I said above I'm old school.
  21. Good work. You swerved the waiting list at pre price increase. Win win. I got my new 420R delivered from Oakmere on the 1.1.22. I too patched into the webinar. It was excellent I thought. I came away a bit despondent knowing EV Seven's were coming down the line. I've discussed this with various pals with Seven's. The unanimous conclusion is that these EV machines will not "scratch the itch". We can't think of anything worse. A point and squirt 4 wheeled washing machine is not our idea of a racing car. Where is the involvement going to be? It's all about the noise, the gear shifting, the visceral involvement with the car. We don't want a silent 0-60 in 2 seconds. However given the webinar poll it seems there will be many who want EV so our stance is not mainstream..
  22. It's a good club. Plenty of info and decent guys. Good choice re 420R!
  23. The items were going to Europe but logistics became too difficult to circumnavigate so now available again! New listing here.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275135660507
