  1. I got 400s shocks. Just ring them and they will advise on best option. For the money they are great and definitely improve the ride.
  2. I recently replaced my rear shocks with Protechs and noticed an immediate difference in improved road holding, so you don't need to spend £thousands on Nitrons and the like. Having adjustable dampers is also a bonus so you can tighten up for track days. Echo previous comments on tyre pressure and ARB. When I first got the car, tyres were at 21 cold and it bounced around like a wild thing. Dropping down to 18 cold transformed it. Also setting rear ARB to lowest setting definitely helped make it more predictable. Fiddling with relatively small settings in a number of areas make significant differences, but the biggest difference I did was the Protechs, which were bog standard from Protech.
  3. Chris at Redline is where I got mine. Most likely Sierra callipers - These are the same as i had on my 2006 Roadsport Youtube - Brake pad change Also Rob's video Rob Oldland read pads shows Sierra callipers.
  4. I had same issue. Shipped unit to Caerbont who took one look and said they don't fix these ones and sent it back. Works OK when starting up and cold, but pixels fail when warm. Only option is new unit, but pricey and hard to get. You lucked out with getting a freebie!
  5. That's interesting about the heat softening the tabs. Both times I have lost caps was at the end of a track day. The 20 minute sessions seem OK, but going a bit longer in open pit sessions was too much. Will take off the rears next time as suggested by @aerobod. I've gone the tape route as had some T-Rex tape (stronger than Gorilla tape!) handy. Thanks all for the suggestions and input.
  6. OK. Thanks JV, that seemed the simplest. It seems like a case of TADTS!
  7. My wheel center cap came off recently and I got a new one from Caterham, but that is loose too.It doesn't snap on and feel secure. I was thinking of putting a bit of tape on the cap flanges, but was hoping a better solution may be suggested by the experts amongst us. Cheers, Donald.
  8. Spotted at the Jazz Republic in Prague.
  9. Yes, sent Raceline an email - no reply yet. Will try calling as I gather he doesn't always get to his emails. Also trying all the Caterham workshops who may have one lying around after a dry sump conversion. There has to be a spare one lying around somewhere!
  10. I need a dip stick for a Duratec, like this: Caterham Duratec dip stick None in stock at Caterham and don't want to drive car if I don't know how much oil is in it! Cheers Donald
  11. Thanks John V. The sump has no markings on the bottom, but does have the blue nut and the finger filter behind it. Engine was rebuilt before I bought the car and I have invoice for a Raceline engine and windage tray, but no sump, so suspect the original 2006 sump was used. Maybe Caterham didn't have markings back then?? Anyway, coupling your advice with my thoughts of "what is the point of a filter if it doesn't filter stuff", I fired it up and went for a blat and all good. I checked the finger filter before firing up the engine, but wasn't expecting anything, as there would have been no flow of oil. I'll check tomorrow and see if the filter has trapped anything. Neil, don't do enough track work to justify DS. Want a Tracksport LSD first!!
  12. It is metal. On close inspection it has worn down, presumably at the quite sharp curve of the shaft. The tip is fused to the wire and over time has worn, to expose the wire and eventually gave way. It is odd. Wonder if anyone has had the same happen to them. I guess not by the lack of responses! Apparently there is a finger filter in the sump which should trap it, so will give that a go tomorrow.
  13. of my dipstick! Planning on going out tomorrow, so checked the oil, then checked it again and on removing the dipstick the tip didn't come put with the rest of it. So I've got 1cm or so of metal in the sump somewhere. 2l Duratec with wet sump. Raceline engine, but not their sump (I'm in contact with them in case they have any bright ideas). What's the option of the experts here? Will be OK as filters will stop it getting anywhere it shouldn't. Take sump off and remove offending item any other options....picture of end of dipstick
  14. Sevens and Classic do a seat refurb kit https://www.sevensandclassics.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/SC-Upgrade-Options-V7-2021.pdf (Page 9) for £78 which includes the plastic backs. Can't vouch for it but looks OK.
  15. Also check out Scott Mansell's videos on learning the Nordschleife: https://driver61.com/circuit-guide/nurburgring/
  16. Comment wasn't entirely serious but it does tell you how much oil you have in the engine! If it comes out clean you could bung it back in again but probably worth putting fresh oil.
  17. Glad I'm not the only one that can't read a dip stick. Standard advice is to take the O ring off from the top of the stick to take reading. Doesn't make a blind bit of difference. Shove it in and wait 30 seconds - diddly squat. The only definite method is to drain it all out and fill it with the correct amount - if you can get a definite answer on what that may be as opinions vary. I work on the "better more than less" plan and shove a bit more in if in doubt. There must be a better way though?
  18. YES! Nice grass bit with showers about 100m from the pit lane. cafe generally open in evening as well.
  19. Have you got My Routes? Happy to share routes up through Wales from Ledbury (middle of M50) - makes getting there and back even more of an epic outing. Couple of us are doing the club trackday August 8th (up on the Sunday from Ledbury, trackday Monday, return Tuesday)
  20. They do average noise sampling, so unless you are very noisy you should be OK. They don't do drive-by checking. Can't recommend anywhere to stay as I camp at the track. Fish supper from the Malltraeth Chippy washed down with a couple of cold ones while watching the sun set from the track - perfect.
  21. View from pit wall of the experts in action
  22. Getting them back in is the really fun bit!
  23. DemonTweaks stock the PitKing one that goes from 1-30 PSI, so much easier to get an accurate reading at 18-20 PSI. Most of the other go to 100PSI, so 18 PSI registers as a gnats fart. https://www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/pitking-products-deluxe-tyre-pressure-gauge-336041/. Not the cheapest, but worth a look. Don't forget your 10% discount
  24. That particular car has been on the market for a very long time, which would raise my suspicions. I recall a previous post enquiring about it and the more experienced members casting aspersions about it (post may have been on another forum I can't recall). As previously mentioned, check out the established Caterham dealers as for that budget you should have no problem finding something.
