  1. Thanks for the replies. As soon as I get a few hours off I will investigate the wiring. I have been warned against Rainex - I think a couple of people said it was useless and another said it was a smeary mess. Therefore, I never bothered with it.
  2. Made the trip up to Stoneleigh last Saturday in torrential rain - I had almost reached my billet for the night when the passenger side wiper blade fell in two allowing the arm to come up and put a lovely scratch in the windscreen. Having disabled the arm, I set off the next day for Stoneleigh to go to the Club meet and also to find a replacement wiper blade. And do you think I could? No! Unbelievable - the few blades I was able to find were probably designed for earthmovers. ❗ A kind club member had a spare which has been given to me on loan. I have put a few on order with CC Parts. I would recommend everybody should add a spare blade or two to their on board spares. I would have been in a much worse situation if it had been my side of the windscreen. Let's face it they aren't great in the first place but we use them in an emergency situation when conditions aren't great for a car that doesn't offer outstanding visibility anyway. When all is said and done, windscreen wipers are really a safety feature and it is a shame that this aspect of the car has not been upgraded. ☹️ A. Can anyone recommend what I can do to repair the arc shaped scratch on my heated windscreen? B. The side repeater on my side of the car has stopped working - all the other lights are fine. I have checked the bulb and sprayed Servisol into the socket and also done the same with the coupling in the nose cone area but no joy. Any ideas? PS The car is a Sigma Roadsport with cycle wings.
  3. It makes you wonder why they never commissioned the 14" CR500 tyre upgrade from Avon. Having looked further into it, there is a bit more aggro involved with the cycle wing assembly to accommodate the 15" wheels! Ahhhh!!!! I knew I just should have bought the R500! ❗
  4. Incidentally, I appreciate that CR500s need to heat up to become effective but how do they respond in wet weather? 🤔
  5. Thanks for the info Ian - much appreciated!
  6. Given that I don't do track days and I'm now on a 6K limited mileage, what is the durability of the CR500s compared with the current ZV3 tyres? I am still using the original set (18 months use) and they are in fine fettle - current mileage 6700 approx. 🤔
  7. It's all beginning to look very expensive!
  8. Hi Guys, I do appreciate all the input. I spoke to Dom @ Caterham about the upgrade and he said that if I wanted more of a linear improvement ( i.e. for overtaking)then the power kit was the way forward. If I wanted to improve the cornering and general handling he recommended the move to 15" wheels with CR500 tyres plus the wider front track suspension upgrade. I gather with the CR500s, they do need warming up to get the best out of them gripwise. I took part in the "7 Wonders of Wales" blat in August and at times my car seemed to struggle to keep up with other Sevens particularly on the radical overtaking front.
  9. I'm considering boosting my Roadsport 125 Sigma up to the full 150 via the conversion offered by Caterham. I would be getting the factory to perform the job but I was wondering if anyone out there has already had this performance mod done? How did it affect the character of your car and what are the pros and cons? My Roadsport is pretty standard i.e. 5 speed, ZV3s etc. I use it for touring and the odd blat (aren't they all?). I would appreciate any guidance.
  10. Thanks for your input guys!
  11. I have noticed small areas on the main body work at the front of the car where the nose cone fits where the paint is in need of a touch up. There are also a few other areas on the car in need of attention. Could anyone give me any tips on the best method to touch up the ali engine cover & the general bodywork? The car is BR Green. (I have the little pot of paint from Caterham). Any hints would be gratefully received. 🤔
  12. I think the problem wouldn't seem so bad if it wasn't for the queue of irritated motorists on the forecourt behind us! 😳 ❗
  13. Before it gets too far into Winter, I was looking to touch up the paintwork on my relatively new Roadsport. The areas which need attention are: a) minor small chips to the chassis framework at the front b) a few minor stonechips in the body paintwork (Caterham green) I was wondering if anyone could offer me advice on the materials I should use. Do I need to use primers and undercoat as well as the Caterham touch up paint? Any tips on application would be appreciated ❗
  14. The Auto Express shoot-out was available on-line. Thanks!
  15. Thanks for the info guys!
  16. Wondering if any of you cats could recommend a good, easy to use and above all accurate tyre pressure gauge? I have a couple of the old fashioned metal tube types and a couple of cheap electronic ones. They give vaguely similar results but nothing conclusive. It would be nice to have something reliable. I usually take 3 readings on each tyre. 🤔
  17. I can't have been using my eye skills! Thanks for pointing it out. 😳
  18. Hi, I think it would be a great help if there was a search facility on the site. This would be especially helpful on the technical section and would probably lessen the repetition of topics in certain sections. Otherwise, a very good job!
  19. Well the current score is 4-0 to the 280mm. Thanks for the advice guys! ❗
  20. We put them down to 18 in Richard's field. The factory had them up to 21. I mentioned the exhaust to James. 500 mile oil change due soon. Over and out.
  21. I was wondering how it would affect the handling...whether I would end up in a bush!!
  22. I'm looking to replace the standard Motolita 11.5" wheel with a Momo + quick release system for a 1.6 Sigma 125. Having only driven conventional cars, I could do with some advice on whether to go for a Momo 260mm or 280mm diameter. I'm not currently intending to do track events. I am mainly looking at the security/ease of entering the cockpit (with the hood up) aspects. I am also 6' and could do with the extra knee room. How will the differences in diameter affect me? Ps. My car is not an SV. Any takers?? 🤔 🤔

    Mudguards

I am switching from a Caterham Roadsport with flared wings to a Sigma Roadsport with cycle wings. I am a bit concerned about stones being thrown up by the front wheels and damaging the paint/bodywork. One of the Sales-team at Caterham suggested that I might want to fit mudguards to the cycle wings. Is this a worthwhile exercise, and if so, can anyone recommend an appropriate supplier? If anyone has done this, I would appreciate it. Blacken, W.London
