  1. Thanks! Also, not as neatly, ... Ford Crossflow, Pre-Crossflow, XFlow, Kent Rocker Shaft Assembly https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202737370136
  2. Having a garage clear out and put some items on EBay then thought should also offer here, see below ... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202737349820 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202737363044 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202737992784 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202737402593 Harry
  3. When you turn the engine over, attempting to start, have you then taken the plugs out to see if they are wet with fuel?
  4. My Crossflow has a silver top pump next to the tank, low down, then a filterking pressure regulator with filter in the engine bay. Provides good flow at the correct pressure, works a treat. Suspect putting a filter before the pump will stifle the flow?
  5. 1990 car here. Real pain whenever I have to refill. Sometimes it’s not too bad but am not sure what I have done differently!

    Fire in the hole

I responded to this on your Facebook post. But further to that have you checked that the barrels are still okay?
  7. My Son’s 1990 car, registered in 1991 had these on Reference: 76232 and Reference: 76233 it’s in his garage currently so I cannot tell you from memory which is left or right.
  8. It’s a while since I last did this but I recall I used my Britool breaker bar, eighteen inches long, 1/2” drive, with an adapter to a 3/4” drive hex, not bi-hexagon, impact grade socket. Supported the hub on an axle stand. Stopped it turning with a one metre or so steel bar bought from B&Q hardware section. Fixed bar to hub having drilled two holes in it spaced to fit over two of the wheel studs, other end resting on the floor. As mentioned above you must ensure you respect the handedness of the nuts. I remember that I expected it to be tricky and half expected I might snap the adapter at the torque level required but in practice it was no problem.
  9. If you get more info on the adjustable top links please post. I still have the original Lotus cruciform ones fitted and they are still good but interested in what is available for their eventual future replacement. When rebuilding the car a few years ago I bought a pair from Caterham but they were completely dimensionally incorrect and I sent them back. I saw a pair of tubular adjustable ones on a Lotus S3 racer at last year’s Gold Cup. I think he said Mike Brotherwood made them for him but I may be remembering incorrectly.

    Oil cap o-ring

It’s not an O-ring. Rimmer Bros., p/no LUD100040 @ £3.21. But cap complete is LQC100270 @ £3.79. Both plus VAT. Check the details on their website. I bought both but for the price may as well just buy the complete cap with seal. Details from my invoice 28/06/2018.
  11. I’ve tried all these things in the past but now I have decided to go straight for a start. With my Elise it fires first touch of the starter and pressure is up straight away even after a long stand. After the car has stood for a while I worry if turning it over for a while to slowly build oil pressure before starting could ‘wipe’ the cam lobes from which most of the oil film has drained away whilst sat there for months? I may of course being totally neurotic about this though! Reasoning was because a well respected engine builder advised me on first start of a rebuilt Lotus Twincam to remove the cam cover and give the cams a good flooding of engine oil to ensure the lobes were well oiled.
  12. Top bush I found easy to remove and replace as one. Bottom bush ... white liner isn’t glued but “retained”. I simply collapsed the worn white liner slightly with a small screwdriver and pulled it out and took a new white liner from a new bush I had and popped it into its self locking position in the old outer which remained in the tube. As wear is on the white part only then problem solved. That’s how I did it anyway, easier than driving in and out a new bottom bush. Other methods will work I am sure.
  13. Screen nozzle from MiniSpares if I recall correctly. Just thought it looked better than the tired plastic one that was fitted originally.
  14. I tried for the cruciform as a first choice myself, but on my 1990 car I couldn’t find space, a neat way, and a suitable bottle with fixings in the right place to make it work so ended up on the bulkhead with that bottle.
  15. Well it is in fact a nice dark green colour, Comma G48. When the rebuilt engine was installed and refilled a little bit of rusty staining occurred in the tank as it flushed though. Was going to take the tank off at the last coolant change and clean it off but didn’t bother as it is only superficial, maybe next time.
  16. Two photo’s: general arrangement and closeup of the tank
  17. I made my own bracket for the bottle from Eliseparts because I now recall that the one I bought from Caterham didn’t properly fit the bottle for some reason ... this was a few years ago and I cannot remember what the problem was. Will try to take and post a photo of my current installation.
  18. Bulkhead, in the centre as high as possible. Car doesn’t have a heater though. I fabricated a bracket from sheet alloy.
  19. Just to add ... the picture at the top of this thread looks to me like the original Lotus OEM version without the coolant warning sensor fitting.
  20. I bought one some years ago from Eliseparts to enable a low coolant sensor to be retrofitted to my Elise; around £35. I bought a second one more recently for the Caterham when I converted the Xflow to a sealed system with a low coolant sensor as well. Recall that price had gone up then to around £50.
  21. Lotus Elise Series 1. Normally without the fitment for the low coolant warning sensor but available with the fitting for one from Eliseparts. Similar to, but different from those fitted to Rovers and MGF so not to be confused with such.
