  1. #2 SM25T

My thoughts initially the wheel nuts but they are torqued correctly and this seven doesn't have watts links or rear ARB.

Are you referring to the unused hole by the seat ? I believe there are mounting position options and this car uses the other?

I'm going to nut and bolt check the rear end later tonight to see if anything is amiss.

The first time I heard it my initial thoughts were handbrake cables smacking the dedion tube as its very metallic sounding but there are no marks to suggest this and I have since wrapped some bike inertube around them to silence the noise with no effect.

  2. This is something that I have considered should I venture back on track as I believe my 420R would be to loud.

Sevens and classics offer a db killer that clamps on to the exhaust outlet in a similar way to the one James has fabricated. Its on the upgrade brochure download. It would be interesting hearing from anyone that has experience using one of these?

Just found the aforementioned and it's called a Decibel slayer costing 78 quid!

  3. #4 completely agree just stick with the banner battery with about 5/7 years life span from what I can see it's the easy option ?

Maybe a more modern way to put it into context is it works out at little more than one individual takeaway meal a year and maybe a cup of fashionable coffee over the lifetime of the battery.

But it is nice to tinker with our toys,  *thumb_up*

  4. Jonathan thanks for the link.

I've just had a good look and I'm sure I've got some jeweller's screwdrivers and other tools I can use to ease the retaining barbs inside the connector blocks and with a little luck get the job done.

Ian, (Wrightpayne) very kindly gave me some longer wishbone bolts needed to accommodate the headlight bracket steady bars.

I'm collecting the brackets from the powder coaters tomorrow am, so unless grandparent duties interfere I should be able to get the job underway soon.

  5. Thank you both,

Jonathan, I'm hoping to simply disconnect and then reconnect the fittings when I've   re-threaded them in to the replacement brackets.

I expect the wires are going to be long enough but I know these thing rarely go this easily!

If you know differently please advise.

  6. Help required please,

Not sure Econoseal is the correct name for them but I wish to remove the connectors on the headlight wiring without damaging them so I can reposition my headlights on some older style up and back brackets.

First question has anyone else done this removal moving the lighting position either way?

Secondly what tool or improvisation was used to do it and if a specific tool were used where can I get one?

    Thanks in advance once again

    Ralph

  7. Merry Christmas to one and all !

I know a lot of club members have gone for the updated forward lower type of headlight brackets for their cars in place of the older style.

So I was wondering does anyone have a set of the up and back earlier style headlight brackets to fit an 1998 onwards imperial S3 in really good condition they would like to sell?

    TIA. Ralph

  8. These are thoughts I have had for years with motorcycles as well as the Caterham only wanting to do the right thing.

Good fuel a little extra pressure in the tyres making sure not to leave the hand brake on so using wooden chocks just in case it goes for a drive on its own  *driving* and roll it back and forth so the tyres don't flat spot.

Doing these few simple things and with enjoying  *coffee* a non essential regime of winter servicing and polishing and in the case of the seven as GulfSeven says a protective coat between the the skin and chassis I have never had an issue with any vehicle I've owned and to be honest you could probably do less?
