  1. So please remove if it's not :-) I have a little micro-business going for the rainy days. I make vinyl stickers, badges, frosted glass stickers and t-shirts etc if anyone fancies anything doing. I made my own decals for my 7 for the sides, bonnet and rear panel and they look great. This isn't some 'homemade' gash letraset stuff, it is all professional grade vinyl designed in Adobe Illustrator and cut out on a professional vinyl cutter. I have done signage for business vehicles too. If you have anything bespoke that you want, just drop me a line. As I say, if it isn't appropriate here, I will fully understand. Thanks. Ali
  2. Hi David, sadly it is. I have tried two fuel rails, two sets of injectors and fuel regulators to no avail. I detached (and refitted) the injector harness each time. Keep the ideas coming please...
  3. Nice one, thank you. I'll try that tomorrow and let you know. I used your most excellent wiring diagrams to wire the adapter loom so there can't be an issue there hehe
  4. Cheers Dave, Even if I hold the butterflies open it still won't run. I'm running a 1.6K SS TB's map but I am set to grouped injectors and wasted spark ignition (the engine is EU3 1600). Today I have removed the fuel rail with the injectors still wired to the harness and sat the injectors in 4 clear plastic cups to see if the injectors were actually triggering. Well, they are not! So, immobiliser disabled, ignition turned on and fuel pump primes. Turn the engine over and the led on the Emerald turns from red to green (as it should). No fuel out of the injectors. These injectors were fine last week on the MEMS and plenum, but I have changed them, and the rail and FPR and still no joy. I've also tried a base map for a 1.6 on plenum with a long 4-1. You guessed it... still no fuel. I think I've tried all of the stupid things like there is fuel in the tank (1/2 full) and that the plugs and leads are all connected and that the immobiliser is disabled. Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
  5. Thanks for your input The Ash. I had considered that too but, just in case, I have disabled the immobiliser in the Emerald mapping software. I'll double check the lamp though :-)
  6. Sorry! I've just read the other posts and saw it has been said before :-)
  7. If you have a glamorous assistant with you there is no need to buy any 'gadgets'. A length of clear tube and a jamjar is all you need. It is as easy as keeping the hose submersed in fluid in the jar, open the bleed nipple, press the brake pedal fully, lock the bleed nipple, release the pedal and repeat until clean, bubble free fluid flows through. Do all corners. Now go to the pub and have two 'free' pints.
  8. Not really. That would involve an engine bay rewire. It is quite an easy thing to make an adapter (I'm an electrical/electronic engineer by trade) - which I have already done. BUT... it does rely on reliable wiring info :-)
  9. I've read and re-read all the posts regarding the EU3-EU2 conversion on here but still have a question. To anyone that has made/bought/borrowed or even stolen a cable to change the MEMS plugs to fit an Emerald.... Could someone please confirm if this pin layout is correct? I have made my own adapter, and confirmed that the pins correspond to this diagram but my engine will not run. It turns over and fires for a couple of seconds before stalling. As I have changed four things all at the same time (Plenum to throttle bodies, MEMS to Emerald, Wiring to EU2 and from standard 1600 injectors to cream ones), I'd like to check each one without reverting to the original set-up and putting the items in one at a time. Thanks in anticipation! Ali http://www.alcester-racing-sevens.com/converter_-_soldering.htm
  10. I've just bought this from Amazon at £144 with next day delivery; BC Lithium Batteries BCTZ20HL-FP-S LiFePO4 Fingers crossed....
  11. Deffo headlights on - be safe, be seen as us of a certain age will remember the ad on the telly ;-)
  12. I'm selling my Tillets to make way for some Kevlar ones. I'm almost certain they will not include the runners though. The passenger one is perfect but the driver's has a slight fracture between the holes for the shoulder harness, but I'm told it is an easy repair. £495 the pair. Collection from Keswick preferred but can post at cost (whatever that may be)
  13. That, kind sir, is also a bit late!!! hahaha
  14. Typical that... I've just ordered a pair of verniers from Piper this afternoon!! ;-)
  15. Ref the 4 post lift... I'd look for one that is only just wide enough for a 7 then you'll only get 'normal' mates dropping by ;-)
  16. Good afternoon all. I am about to embark on building a new engine and would like to replace the valve guides whilst it is in bits. I have seen that there is an official tool for inserting them. Does anyone have a link to where these can be bought, or even have one that you no longer need please? Ta

    Help with 1600K

Thanks guys, Dave, I loaded your file - thank you - and it now turns over. Everyone else... I can refit the original ECU and it will fire up on the first turn of the key. I have not had chance to look at it today, but hoping to have more time on Boxing Day. Thank you all Merry Christmas :-)

    Help with 1600K

Hi fellas, It is an EU3 engine (2006). Yesterday I only had a red LED and no 'engine speed' on the live screen. After a bit of fiddling today, I now get a green LED on cranking and a reading of engine speed but still no firing. All that I have done to the SS Map is changed the number of cylinders to 4 (Weird that was) and changed the crank sensor to 34-2 Rover Type 2 - oh, and disabled Cam Sensor as I don't have one. Any help gratefully received...
  19. The correct wiring is as follows if anyone wants to do it later... The pins connecting to the Emerald ECU serial plug are: 1 - CAN High to Pin 6 OBD2 2 - CAN Low to Pin 14 OBD2 5 - Signal Ground to Pin 5 OBD2 Then connecting +12v from fuse board to Pin 16 OBD2 and Battery negative to Pin 4 of OBD2 socket.
  20. Hello again. Just fitted an Emerald K6 to my otherwise standard 1600k but the map I have is for a SS. It won’t start so wonder if it’s the timing due to different cams. Does anyone have a ‘standard’ 1600K map that I could have please?
  21. Cheers guys. Sorted now ta. Karl at Emerald emailed my the firmware update for my K6 to even let OBD2. Made the cable up for £2.99 for the OBD2 socket and some 16/0.2 cable I had - saved £21 ;-) downloaded Dash Commend iphone app and getting it in the car tomorrow - hopefully no no idea why this post appeared twice
  22. Cheers Paul. I ended up working it out through the emerald manual and a bit of googling ta. Getting plugged in tomorrow.
  23. Hello all, I have just made an adapter cable to fit a K6 ECU to an EU3 K Series engine. I have seen that it is possible to have ECU data sent to an iPhone/iPad via a Wifi dongle connected to an OBD2 plug. Now, I know that Emerald make a lead, but I'd like to make my own but I would need to know the pin connections... That is where you come in (hopefully). Ta
