  1. Rob I'm interested and based in Herts too. Would like to arrange to view. Have blatmailed contact details. Thanks Ben Orange Superlight #53
  2. I've heard how good this dual lock stuff is, but is it a bugger to get it off the glass / does it lift paint if used on the scuttle? Orange Superlight #53
  3. Hi Geoff Pictures would be good please. Sounds like an elegant solution. TIA Ben Orange Superlight #53
  4. Thanks for all the replys gents. Looks like plenty of options then. Sadly car is undercover oustisde in the pouring rain, so will have to have a play tomorrow, weather permitting. Hugh, i'll take a look at yours when we meet next week. 😬 Miles - very neat. I'll remember that one for when i go aeroscreen. Orange Superlight #53
  5. Thanks Andy. All clear now. 😬 Orange Superlight #53
  6. I'll take a look at the washer switch position Graham. Thanks. Not used mine much yet either. Andy what does "fits onto the speedo frame thing if you remove the handlebar round bit" mean? I take it the horizontal part of the bracket goes into the hole with the speedo and sits on top of it? Or am I being a numpty? 😬 Thnaks Ben Orange Superlight #53
  7. Just bought a BC1200 and thanks to Myles’s site and others I can see how to install it. However, wondering on the best location for the computer itself. Given line of sight is required options seem to be: on a bracket on the scuttle, on a windscreen mount (as per Miles) or even on the steering wheel (looks neat but not sure this will be in LOS and have a QR wheel). Current favourite is to make / find a bracket to mount onto scuttle edge. BTW I'll be keeping the standard speedo so can't fit there. So where / how did you mount yours? Hi Andy Its held at the Crooked Chimney pub Lemsford, near Wheathampstead. 7.30-8pm -ish Pub is located here: (opposite entrance to Brocket Hall) http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=520783&y=212287&z=5&sv=520783,212287&st=4&ar=Y&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf&ax=520783&ay=212287 I've not been to the regular meet before, but know of at least 4 other locals going. Total will probably be more like 10-15 I expect. Look forward to meeting you. Cheers Ben Orange Superlight #53

Hi Gavin it was me. First time i've had a Seven come up behind me. Looked great in the mirrors. Great to see another out for a blat, as i never seem to meet anyone else out in this weather. After you turned off, i wondered if i had just missed a great driving road! I was sticking to the boring stuff as i was running in a set of tyres and they were still a little slippy . I'm going to be at the Herts meet tomorrow night if you fancy a chat. Would be good to meet you. Cheers Ben Orange Superlight #53
  10. I've just ordered from George Polley as well this afternoon then read this. How important is getting eveything lined up? Is it just a case of more or less weights on the wheels or does it affect handling, tyre wear etc? Orange Superlight #53
  11. Thanks Danny. Sorry to hear about the towcar. Little sh*ts. Looks like Stapletons are worth a try though. Think I'll wander down tomorrow when tyres arrive. Cheers dave. I used to live in Hitchin so know where you mean. Will check them out if Stapletons can't help. Ps. Dave YHM re: your wheels in wanted. Orange Superlight #53
  12. Thanks Nic, i'll give them a call. H___ the place you are thinking of is Stapletons. Close to me so would be great if they are trustworthy. Have you used them to fit tyres only? Cheers
  13. Thanks Nic. Should have said in my original post I will be supplying the tyres myself. Did you do this with them? If so what did they charge?
  14. Anyone got any garages they could recommend to fit tyres that you supply yourself? TIA Edited by - Hadders on 7 Feb 2006 16:23:36
  15. Ok, I appreciate this is probably 'how long is a piece of string', but I my Cr500's (13 x 6) are just on the wear indicators on the front. With, I think, quite a lot of negative camber dialled in, the inside half of the tyres are at the indicators, whereas the outside half still have reasonable tread left. I want to get the most possible out of them, and can no doubt have some fun on track when they are nearly bald! So questions are: 1. In general, what more can I expect to get out of them as a track day novice with a mix of airfield (more abrasive?) and circuit use? Probably 3 - 6 days this summer 2. Given that I’m running 13 x 6 all round and the rears are about half worn, I’ll get two new CR500’s. Should I put these on the rear and swap the part worns to the front? 3. Negative camber – should I reduce it? I enjoy a 150 mile or so blat every weekend weather permitting and although its spirited driving, I am mainly going straight ahead ☹️ 😬 and hence, I assume, the uneven tyre wear. So its just ‘accept it it comes with the superb handling’ or ‘tone it down and make your tyres last longer’? Having only had the car since October, I’m already feeling the lure of a second set of wheels just for trackdays. Then I’ll need a wheel rack to carry them of course…Angus, Myles who made yours 🤔 Any comments about usability? All advice / experience much appreciated. Ben Orange Superlight #53
  16. Thanks all. Not convinced myself yet. Not sure I can afford to trial and error . Horrible suspicion that you would only find out after the event. Did think maybe two wooden planks, one each end to spread the load might work. However, safest option probably is to use axles stands. Any other experiences, good or bad, gratefully received. 17. Looking to make use of my local friendly garage and their two post lift in order to inspect and POR15 the chassis. However, it is the type that has two arms per side, each with a pad which you position under a jacking point. If it was a drive on ramp, I wouldn't be asking, but given the jacking points advised by CC and Blatchat are parts I will probably want to paint, are there other points I could lift the car by and if not, do you think using the standard jacking points will be safe on this type of lift? Would make things much easier and quicker if possible. Orange Superlight #53 with 1.8SS and other mods

  19. The weather looks good for this weekend, so if you get the car working Nik, or need an extra pair of hands, just let me know. I'll be out on a blat at some point. Alexander, 4th is free so I'm up for a blat round the route you suggested. So that's two and sure we can get Nik going by then, so anymore for anymore? Orange Superlight #53 with 1.8SS and other mods
  20. Hugh - good to meet you too. Look forward to swapping racing DVD's. Looks like we have enough of us to make an interesting weekend blat. Any suggestions for a great pub to head for or other great driving roads, let me know. See what we can arrange. The A507 is great, but short so anyone know where to go from there? Alanp has a route out west from Luton which i have yet to try, but which looks good. Look forward to meeting up with everyone sometime soon. Orange Superlight #53 with 1.8SS and other mods
  21. Aah the 507. What a road. 😬 Drove it in the Caterham for the first time on Sat. Forgotten how good it is. Great corners and short straights just long enough (for a Caterham that is) to pass two / three cars or a lorry. Great surface as well. At the end just wanted to turn round and do all it again! 22. Hi Nic Good to hear from another local. Sorry to hear about the Zetec. Hopefully just something simple. Let us know if there's anything I can do. I'm no expert, but at least there are few here on Blatchat. Used to live in Hitchin many years ago, so know the area and there are some great roads. One over to Luton /A6 , then on to M1 and the road up to Bedford were fun, ISTR. Reckon that’s a good subject for a drink sometime. Cheers Ben Orange Superlight #53 with 1.8SS and other mods
  23. Nice one Hugh. Look forward to chat / pint. I'm around most nights next week. Orange Superlight #53 with 1.8SS and other mods
  24. Ozzy, just done this at the weekend and tapped into the offside light, but assume the wiring will be the same. Stop lamp Live is purple/green wire (red is for tail light) Attached with a plastic scotch type 🤔 connector (the one where you run wires parallel inside then squash shut to make connection IYSWIM) to the wires as they exit into the rear wing and taped up really well. Took earth into the lamp unit through grommet and attached to earth post inside. Working fine and feel a lot safer! Orange Superlight #53 with 1.8SS and other mods
