  1. I know this is an often discussed topic and the suggested route is a 5 mm spacer or grind the ear off a little but my question is actually why do the 8 x13 8 spokes I just picked up for my 2018 car actually foul on the de Dion ear at all? Since these wheels were introduced on the R500 I am led to believe the de Dion ear was modified by CC to overcome this so why do I have a problem on a nearly new car?

I have fitted a K&N universal cone filter to the plenum of my 2018 360R, so pretty much the same. It's definitely louder and deeper with a nice growl. Not noticed any negatives or flat spots, still idles nicely. Win win as far as I am concerned and glad I did it.

  3. Ok. With the help of the following great blog courtesy of Daniel, I have a bit of an answer-( apologies for the copyright theft!)

    http://www.caterhamr500.co.uk/2016/07/new-cr500s-with-weights.html

Caterham 6x13 eight spoke weighs 4.4kg

Caterham 8x13 eight spoke weighs 4.7kg

    From CC website:-

    6x13 Apollo weighs 4.16kg

    8x13 Apollo weighs 4.76kg

    6.5 x15 Orcus weighs 5.8kg

    6x 14 Classic weights 4.88kg

So, I'm looking at a 5kg weight reduction going from 15s to 13 inch eight spokes without considering tyres.

  4. Firstly I have a 2018 360R currently on 15 inch wheels.

I am looking at getting some 13 inch wheels: 6 inch front and 8 inch rear. My question is about tyre size, in relation to profile and section. CC sell the ZZS in 185/55 for the fronts and 215/55 for the rear. After much research, the ZZS is the Only 13 inch tyre available in both these sizes. There are several other tyres available in 13s many of which are cheaper, this being one reason to swap so the question is, what sizes are people running front and rear then in profile and section if not using ZZS? I think I have confused myself. Help please.

    Thanks in advance

    Andy
