  1. I have the same set up (widetrack, club buy mount). Never had a hint of hitting the stay. I have bottomed the rear suspension a few time and bent one seat mount bolt but never hit the stay with the front suspension. I must of compressed it sometimes. I have done a number of track days so would have expected to explore the limits there too. I can send you a picture of mine if it helps. Maybe you need to stiffen the front suspension?
  2. Silverstone Grand Prix circuit 27th March 2017. Foggy start delayed access to the track but once we got out it was a dream to drive the GP circuit. The last time I was here was over 20 years ago and then only the national circuit (North). The day was split into three sessions of 20 minutes each hour. There were three clubs accommodated, led by the the MG club and including our glorious club and Lotus on Track. I believe the 20 minutes each hour was a good format and allowed time for the car to cool, the driver to think and chatting with colleagues in the garage. Lessons learned for me included; Confidence - It took a while to really push in the fast corners after straights. These included Copse, nearly flat with an excellent run off, Maggotts, with interesting direction change while slowing, Stowe, depends on your gearing, Abbey and Farm, flow really nicely to the braking at Village. Even Brooklands has a fast entry but needs care as there are multiple direction changes immediately afterwards. Gearing - I have a 6 speed, 3.92 diff and 13 inch wheels so topped out on Hanger (120 ish). With only a 1.8 K SS to push me I caught, but could not pass, faster cars who signaled over on the straights. It didn't help to get some laps with Simon Lambert in the 620R (now that is the power I need). He was braking well before me as he had achieved massively more speed on the straights. Overall it was a very well organised event and I for one thoroughly enjoyed it even if I did miss out on getting some tuition! Bring on the next one!
  3. Can I get two sets of the green and yellow ones please? I'll PM my details Ted
  4. Hi I am after a set of four 13x6" minilites in good condition for a DeDion S3. Would consider ones for refurb if they are sound and not too expensive. I plan to put new tyre on for road use so not particularly bothered if they have tyres but want them to look good. Based around Basingstoke/ Reading area. Thanks
  5. I PM'd you hope that is ok Ted
  6. As I prepare for next year's Sprints I thought I'd make a few mods; 1. Solenoid relay addition to kill the K-click. Easy to do and immediately effective. Fingers crossed this, with a battery conditioner connection built in and in use, should see starting confidence vastly improve. 2. Carbon Aero screen fitted. A bit of a pig as it wasn't an entirely accurate fit (Westermann screen with full scuttle strap). Had to cut out for the wiper spigots, for example and widen a few holes. Some well place washers cover those. 3. Fitted a couple of black wing mirrors. Decided to mount these through the screen strap and the body work where they would be covered when the screen is put back on. Worked a treat. No centre mirror planned. 4. Finally fitted the half doors. I have the moulded ones to give me elbow room. These weren't easy either. I fitted some "pull the dot" fastners at the front and used the back one as fitted. I then added a couple of standard dot fastners at the bottom of each door. First impressions are that I really like the different feel while driving. Just did a shake down so not a lot of mileage yet. I find the exhaust note is different too. Doesn't sound as loud, strangely. Anyway added a couple of picks for reference. Looking forward to a longer run when I get the time and the weather.
  7. ok, the reason for asking is it is only £21.12 from Caterham. I was about to order one. If you can delivery for £14 that's ok and I'll PM you. Ted
  8. Yes interested. Is it undamaged and completed? Ted
  9. Thanks Sallen43. I am interested as a second set of wheels. Do you have any pics so I can see what I am considering? Are the wheels in reasonable nick and straight? I work up in Hinckley during most weeks so picking them up wouldn't be a problem if they are ok.
  10. I now have a petty strut and am sourcing the bolts. Thanks Baz
  11. Genius.....why didn't I think of that!
  12. I bought and built my first Caterham in 1995 but not had one for many years until this one. It's a Supersport 1.8 K-series with superlight suspension. Car is 1998 model but very well put together. Six-speed with LSD means it will be ready for my planned excursion into sprinting next year. In the meantime I have a few changes to make; I have ditched the full hood for a SB half hood. Some challenges fitting the side poppers but resolved when I replaced the ones on the bodywork too. Recently attended the Throckmorton Handling Day, which was enjoyable but wet (I have the requisite shower cap). As a result I have discovered a quirk with the half hood. The return journey was very wet but the hood coped well. I had the reported ingress of water at the front of the doors but that would have happened anyway. The main issue was a soaking wet boot. When it is very wet the rain rolls off the hood, down the roll bar braces in into the boot. Anyone else had this? I am thinking I need some sort of collar above the boot cover. My Toyo R888s coped very well with the wet considering they are cut like intermediates. I notice these tyres will require me to move up a class under current regs so might need to rethink the choice, shame. If there were no other limitations I would stay with the Toyos as they have been great in wet a dry. I have 13 inch wheels, 6 inch wide front and back btw. I now have a pair of half doors for when I go Aero. Looking for a carbon aero to match my carbon dash. I don't have the poppers at the bottom of the door so these need to be fitted. I can't wait to try the 'wind in the hair' motoring experience. Will have to get some decent goggles or impact resistant glasses though. Last necessity is to source a petty strut for my FIA (single diagonal) roll bar. Nice to have is 5.75 inch (black) lights to replace the 7 inch ones. I have read that the standard ones are not very bright so will look at options. I want these mainly for esthetics but might cut down a bit more wind resistance too. Anyway, when I get a chance I'll post some pictures.
  13. I had exactly the same problem and ended up replacing the popper bases. The existing ones are just too big. I actually managed to tap one on but the other wouldn't budge. The kit from SB had replacements you can use.
