  1. Anyone booked for Laon should have received the email. below Having spoken to Keiran (SCT)- it does look unlikely it will go ahead although they are waiting for the French Government for confirmation that the outdoor gatherings ban will go on later than 3rd April. Any questions Keiran or James are on hand and they encourage you to call either of them on the number below (Keiran Line is our main contact ) Chris From: James Wickenden Sent: 16 March 2020 12:18 To: SCT Administration <admin@sceniccartours.com> Subject: Laon Historique 2020 - IMPORTANT UPDATE Good afternoon Following our balance reminder email last week we have understandably had a couple of calls regarding the likelihood of the event proceeding during the ongoing COVID-19 situation. We have contacted the Laon Historique Organisers today who confirm they are still planning to run the event on the current dates unless instructed otherwise. The current official statement from the Laon Historique Organisers is still: Association de la Montée Historique de Laon states that: Appropriate authorities have not informed us of the need to postpone our 29th Circuit Historique de Laon, on 30-31 May and 1st June 2020 In the event that we would not be able to go ahead with the event, Association de la Montée Historique de Laon would reschedule it to a later date in 2020. However we understand the ever changing situations across the world and would like to delay your Laon Historique balance until April 2nd 2020. At this point we will then re-access the current situation and update you all accordingly once again. We trust this information is of use, and if you have any other questions please let us know. Kind regards, James Wickenden Sales and Operations Manager Direct Telephone: +44 1732 879171

The route extends over 6kms and includes a hill climb with hairpin bends as you make your way to the old town centre. And you can make a many runs as you wish. 9. We are heading for the second year to this wonderful event in Northern France on the 7th - 10th June . We start with a gathering of cars and clubs on the Friday in Bethune before heading to Laon where all of us are staying this year in either the IBIS or Campanile. Members from Belgium and Northern France are staying near by ready for the main event the next day Saturday is the rally day, meeting at a central point for breakfast we head off for the days blat around the countryside stopping for lunch ( provided) before heading back through the countryside to Laon for a party finish with refreshments. (Last year lunch stop was Chimay race circuit when after a picnic lunch and a beer we 'played' on the circuit) . Sunday is the day we spend in Laon driving the streets including a hill sprint with some lovely bends. Monday there is an option for another shorter rally or a dash to the port. this video takes you through the two days from last year - and you may see some familiar cars and faces among those taking part :-)http://www.circuit-historique-laon.com/en/english-photos-2018/ - this is the official site with all the photographers images and gives you a good flavour of the variety of cars and the general atmosphere. again you may see some familiar faces :-) Personally I loved the event for its informality, the carnival atmosphere created by the organisers and the enthusiasm of the local population - and we will be back this year Kieran will be pleased to help you with the booking and the various options of crossings you can call him on: Direct Telephone- 01732 879172 : Mobile - 07786 968149 or email: kieran.line@sceniccartours.com Don't forget to mention the Club to get your 50 quid members discount :-) For more details of the event and itinerary please go to: http://www.sceniccartours.com/lotus-7-club-tours/4594080529 Christine
  10. This event on the 23rd - 25th June is filling up with 38 confirmed - that leaves us with just 2 rooms in the village and 7 rooms in the castle still up for grabs. We stay in the village for 2/3 days – the choice is yours. Each evening we dine in a private room either at the hotel or the castle. During the day there are plenty of choices of activities in the local area as well as spending time in the village and gardens. This year Dave has arranged with the Snowdonia GP Karting circuit for a Le Mans style endurance (2 hours) team event with the opportunity at the end to take our sevens onto the circuit in return for a donation to their charity. We will also have the opportunity to put on a street parade (Three video clips from 2017 and 2018 below) on the Tuesday morning and after the village closes for day visitors you can take your car to be photographed in some of the iconic spots in the village. The event’s organiser for the village said of our first visit: "Light, agile and super cool, it was a delight seeing so many of these iconic cars making their way through such a beautiful location.” And last year Mad Malc was recruited by the village to be a camera man for the ITV series to be screened this spring Just drop me an email for more information - chair@lotus7.club Be seeing you! 13. Hi Chris You might try our international network club in Sweden - see link on Sweden in area groups - they probably have experience of all the countries in that area they could share with you. In fact they have an annual gathering, I believe September time that you could even make a target. They hold this every year and are keen to hold an international gathering there maybe 2020 ...... Wouldn't it be It would be great if the Newcasle - Bergan ferry was still operational ! When we went a couple of years ago - it was Hull Rotterdam - up to Rostock for the ferry to Trelleboug - certainly doable but a bit of a slog ! Chris
  14. I would be delighted to have such sophisticated and cultured company such as yourself and Mrs Long ...... Chris
  15. We return to Portmeirion on the 23rd– 25th of June for what has become our annual homage to the association between the Lotus 7 from the cult TV series The Prisoner and the village. It was a Series 2 Lotus Seven that was driven by Patrick McGoohan in the opening titles of the television series however in the final episode, “Fall Out”, it was replaced by a series 3 disguised as the original, as it had been sold during the filming. Graham Nearn drove the car to the set for the final episode to be shot and found himself recruited as an extra. He can be seen dusting off the car and posting the keys through McGoohan's letter box, prior to the hero's arrival. We stay in the village for 2/3 days – the accommodation ranges from the main hotel to the castle or houses in the village – the choice is yours. Each evening we dine in a private room either at the hotel or castle. The maximum number of people we can take is 60 and we have 30 rooms allocated to us. Below you will find a list of rooms and the 6 room reservations already made! Drop me a PM or email to reserve yours stating which room you would like ( or a map of the village if you are not sure) – first come first served! 16. Club tours are a great way of exploring new areas and making new friends. Informal, although always in good quality accommodation, you have the reassurance of support from other seven owners and enthusiasts. Over the last 5 months Dave Rothwell, the Clubs Tour Organiser and myself have been working together to create the tour calendar for 2019. Last year saw us increase the numbers of tours on offer and this next year we have expanded the calendar to five to include Portugal, Ireland and France. We can only do this with your enthusiasm for touring so thank you for creating some wonderful memories in 2018. In this months Low Flying you will find an insert produced with our tour partners Scenic and Continental Cars and over the next week on BlatChat – Blats and Tours section - you will find details of each event including prices, booking arrangements etc. However here is a brief over view of what’s on offer: Portugal Gathering 10th- 13th May 2019: We are staying in a Hotel overlooking the Douro valley with four days of activities including Port tasting, Blats, and Cruising on the River organised with one of our local members Andre. Dave will be posting full details including suggested ferry crossings and hotels and roads en-route to this lovely venue making it a longer tour through the Picos Mountains. Circuit Historique de Laon 7th– 10th June 2019: Our second visit to Laon. On Saturday there will be a rally with a light lunch provided, then on Sunday morning, participation in the ‘closed street run’. The route extends over 6 kms and includes a hill climb with hairpin bends as you make your way to the old town centre. The tour includes ferry crossings, hotel accommodation with breakfast, Friday Car Display En-Route to Laon, Entry to the Saturday Rally including light-lunch, Participation in Sunday 'Closed Street Parade', Optional Participation in Monday Morning Run. Portmeirion 23rd– 25th June 2019: Its June so must be time for Portmeirion and our 3 days of pampering in this unique venue. The accommodation is in the village itself where there is plenty to entertain you and this year a drive through Snowdonia to the GP Karting circuit with the bonus of taking your own car on the circuit!. Accommodation is in the village, breakfast and dinner are included. Southern Ireland 11th– 16th July 2019: This tour takes us to Waterford, Killarney and the Ring of Kerry and the opportunity to experience the warmth of Irish Hospitality and some wonderful iconic roads. The tour includes ferry crossings 1 night in Waterford in each direction, 3 nights in, Killarney,5 full Irish breakfasts & 3 dinners And lastly Angouleme and the Circuit des Remparts 12th -17th September 2019. We visit the annual historic car race in the walled town of Angouleme. The International Circuit des Remparts route in the city is unchanged since its first edition in 1939 although modern safety equipment has replaced the hay bales and wooden fences, but otherwise the circuit remains untouched. Tour includes return ferry crossings, 1 night in Le Mans - outbound , 1 night in Orleans on the return. 3 nights in Angoulême with Buffet breakfast each morning & some meals and Grandstand tickets & Paddock Passes for Sunday racing. I have at least three booked in my diary – how about you? Christine
  17. Thanks for this everyone . You will see a similar thread on blatchat and I can reassure you Geoff is on the case. Will update asap Chris
  18. Thanks Dave It was fun doing the Waitrose raid with you :-) Chris
  19. Stu is right - If you log off as a member then look at the website and Blatchat - Techtalk you will see that it is visible to non members . Member benefits and what constitutes a benefit for a member is constantly reviewed but as I write this there is no move to change the current arrangement - but interesting debate :-) Chris
  20. I may well be wrong here as well Andrew ;-) - but Caterham parts shop call Roll bars without petty strut a "Trackday bar" and with a petty strut an "FIA Roll over bar" .......... Chris
  21. This was discussed openly at the AR Conference but for the benefit of those not present Chris is correct in that the composition of Rollbar review team led by James is composed of MT and non MT members including a senior representative from Mira who conducted the tests. I am uncertain why it is necessary to publish names before the release of the report especially those not officers of the Club. If it was deemed necessary then it would not happen without their consent. The team have experience and expertise in automotive engineering and or in scientific research. Their task was to consider the highly technical 147 page report we received on the results. This is an objective exercise based on factual information from an independent highly reputable company who are recognized leaders in the field. They are tasked with reaching a conclusion objectively using the data presented and presenting that in a way that the rest of us can understand. There has been a long standing debate on this issue and we committed to invest in this rigorous exercise in order that we do get an independent objective result, We are doing just that and the results are imminent. James has committed to publish the results in Januarys edition of Low Flying and simultaneously here on Techtalk. Lastly and importantly - I was dismayed to see the comment stating that it was club policy that the MT do not comment on threads on Blatchat. There has never been such a policy in my time , it has never been suggested and frankly to suggest one does exist formally or informally is extraordinary and incorrect. Chris (tine)
  22. And from me - brilliant day - Thanks to James and Dave the club organizers, the team of instructors Richard and his team at Blyton not forgetting the marshals. AND we had sunshine and blue skies ....... I went apprehensive to say the least but by the end of the morning sessions 10 times more confident if not competent for the afternoon sessions. I think the evening before and meeting many of you helped as we all shared our nerves over a curry and beer. I even signed up for day 2 and shared the car with Roger for the day ...... so many of you said you wished you could have stayed on as well especially since the second day was also in sessions of 6 cars. It really worked and gave me the confidence that the really fast and experienced club members were as courteous and helpful to us novices as I expected them to be . As well as Roger , Mike and Adrian both came out as passengers with me and I am grateful for their confidence in me !! I am looking forward to the next track day and meeting 'team novice' again ........ Chris
  23. Hope you all have fun this weekend and the weather holds good. :-) Chris(tine)
  24. Thanks James, Robert and Merrick for a great day. With over 60 people attending it was a feat of organisational brilliance that we all got out and back in 1 hour :-) Even the weather turned good . Chris
