  1. The old ones I keep just in case are Goodyear 210L 01007 63 and the Strongbelt has the same ref 210L there are 56 teeth on these belts and James Whiting supplied them so try him or Ruth. Cheers Nick
  2. Thanks Jonathan have signed up to the register this afternoon to help avoid others have all the hassle that I've just gone through nick
  3. Found a reversible torque wrench that goes to 225 ib ft at Halfrauds and all sorted and back together . Has good reviews and seems nicely made. Thank you for ideas and offers to borrow kit. Wish Id have thought of flipping the Sealey around, I thought it would be a nightmare to flip with springs and bits flying all over. If anyone in the Reading area is stuck doing the same thing drop me a PM and I'll be able to help with a reversible torque wrench. All shiny and new on the rear brakes now and binding all disappeared. Now need to do the brakes on the family car! nick
  4. The wrench is a Sealey AK628, it's brand new and only torqued up the o side. I called up the distributor I bought it from and he told me the torque only works one way there's no push through to reverse the wrench and the flip switch only engages the opposite ratchet, seems a bit pointless as I'm not using it as a breaker bar, thanks for the offer to borrow a wrench and for posting the model that is reversible. I'll try and borrow one from a local garage or get them to torque it up and if I get stuck I may well take up the offer to borrow one. Don't fancy standing on the bar, I'm just over 200ib and gymnastics isn't my forte, had thought of standing on the bathroom scales and reducing the reading by 100lbs and holding the breaker bar 2 foot from the socket. Changing the discs, calipers and brake lines has been more of a task than I'd expected.
  5. It's a Sealey torque wrench with the switch to flip the ratchet but the wrench only clicks one way. I had the thing set on a low torque rate to make sure it worked and it didn't . It's either duff or doesn't torque left handed, I'll call Sealey tomorrow and try my local tool hire shop. Worked fine doing the o side hub nut up. thanks for the input Jonathon. nick
  6. Just finishing off changing calipers discs pads and brake lines and final hurdle is torquing up the near side hub nut. Off side was fine as my torque wrench works clockwise but near side nut is left threaded and the wrench doesn't work that way. Do you need a special wrench? I assume I use a new hub nut each time I change the discs? thanks gor any guidance, nick
  7. Thank you all for the information, I caught up with Caterham again yesterday and they sent me another set of pipes and adapters and they all fit together fine so I can now put the car back together again over the weekend. :-)
  8. Thanks both. The adaptor, convex end, fits in the caliper which has a concave recess. The convex end of the adaptor will not fit in the swivel as the internals to the swivel restricts the threads getting anywhere close. The other end of the adaptor is concave and has a different thread to the swivel, it binds after a third of a turn. I pinged a photo to James W (as Cater guy I queried this with yesterday morning hadn't come back to me and when I called up again for the verdict was told he wasn't in today and system down this pm for month end) and he had never seen a brake swivel with an internal with a rubber o ring to seal a brake line. His verdict is the swivel is wrong. I tried to post a photo but that has beaten me too. Hope I have better luck tomorrow as would like to put the car back together for the weekend.
  9. Had rear o/s brakes binding and have replaced disc pads and caliper without drama both sides.Floating caliper attached to fixed brake pipe so thought best to add flexible hoses too and now problems start. Have bought the flexible hoses from C and assume swivel end goes to caliper? The fitting in the small bag with nut and copper washer fits the Sierra caliper but the swivel is a different thread to the fitting so will not fit. Seems the swivel is imperial but the fitting is ??? Called C this am but very busy and will get back to me but no guidance yet. Car currently out of action until this is sorted so can anyone point me in the direction of what fitting I need and supplier. I'm based in Reading. Thanks for any help. Nick
  10. Can definitely recommend James Whiting, he has been looking after our Caterhams for many years and is excellent. Spy are closer to Reading and just off the Oxford end of the Dorchester on Thames by pass, visited them recently when could not get the car over to James and Spy were very helpful.
  11. I have two spare Saturday tickets if your interested drop me a dm. Thanks Nick
