  2. copy of post to chitchat A reminder to members especially with older 7s that our club sprint , which is part of our Northampton Motorsport sponsored speed championship, is also also open to clubman entries (members of the club not part of the speed championship with a qualifying 7 (classes 1-7, and H) with a suitable Motorsport UK license ) Regs are available in the competitors section of the club website. Class H is for Any Lotus or Caterham Seven manufactured between 1957 & 1976 complying with the relevant speed sections of the Motorsport UK General Regulations applicable to Period Defined Vehicles (Non-Rally). 7. Hethel now confirmed for 16th April; still working on the other 2 unconfirmed events.
  8. cost for joining the championship will be £30, same as 2022. also required is an RS Interclub license at £74 i've not had to get a medical so can't comment on that. each round is approx £100 entry fee , and yes , usually doubles for a 2 day event that's it unless you don't have a FIA approved race suit, gloves , helmet as a minimum.
  9. For those not at the awards lunch, here is the provisional event calendar , as it currently stands. I've added all events to the one calendar and indicated if an event is invited event (non championship) or a championship event, pls also note 2023 will include an Introduction to sprinting event for which we'll need marshals and volunteers to do demo laps as in previous events please. Please also note Curborough events will be switched around with the figure of 8 run in May, this is to reduce the number of consecutive Figure 8 runs for the Curborough championship in August. I will update as I receive confirmations for the events not confirmed. 13. A great day and thanks to all those who helped to make it go smoothly. Deeble Dave, Maggie May and Andy H for the scoring and of course to Alan, "Mr compscorer" who prepared it all so well that we didn't notice he wasn't there. Thanks also to Paul "MC" for sorting out the trophies. Great to have Roger Swift, the founder of sprinting in our club, presenting the awards. He even mentioned the possibility of making a comeback next year!

  16. Deeble Dave and Maggie May.....you are both amazing! All of us are really pleased that you have again volunteered to perform this vital task without which we would all be driving pointlessly around in circles......
  17. Some of the old timers might remember that we used to award a cup donated by Roger and Barbara Swift based on performances at our Curborough sprints. The last time this was awarded was 2012 and it seems appropriate to now revive this in memory of Barbara. So this year the cup will be awarded to the lady competitor who scores the highest combined number of points over the 2 Curborough sprints. And Roger will be at Curborough in August to present this and the other awards. For those who don't remember the great work that Roger and Barbara did for the club, I received this from Roger today...... I don’t know if you are aware of Barbara’s involvement with the club sprints? It’s hard to realise but at one time (early 90’s) the club only very occasionally had driving events. Individual areas might hire a car park and have some fun but nothing regular was arranged. After helping at one of these ad hoc events Barbara and I decided that we would organise something at curborough as it was very close to where we lived. We had no experience and learnt on the job. Regs needed to be written, marshals arranged, first aid cover, timing, entry lists etc etc (you will be familiar with this). It wasn’t easy. Because we weren’t msa registered. Timekeepers and marshals were very reluctant to commit. Barbara sweet talked them and between us we got the event running. It was a success so we did it the next year and the following year and for many years after that. It became so popular that if you didn’t apply immediately the event was announced you wouldn’t get a place. The answer was to run two events each year and that continues till today. As well as doing the bulk of the organising, Barbara was the kind face that competitors met at signing on and she worked hard to quell the nerves of the many novices we had at that time. Not content with organising, Barbara also competed with some success. We noted that there were very few lady competitors and so donated the Swift Ladies Cup to encourage them (there was also a Swift cup for male novices which sadly seems to have gone missing…). Presenting the ladies cup will keep Barbara’s connection with the club and curborough alive (.she also served on the management committee or ‘Team” as it was then known). Look forward to seeing you on the 28th Regards Roger
