If you know the general area, you will know where the petrol stations are. Do you know which ones sell E5 fuel, assuming your 7 needs it. Take it into account when route planning. Piers
It might be worth contacting the French Caterham & Lotus Seven Club, so if you do have a problem, you have a contact who can point you in the right direction of a specialist or garage. There are two contacts in Low Flying for North and South France. Piers
I had a bit of a problem on my R300K where it would not start. It had a good spark. However, squirting fuel into the throttle bodies and away it went and ran fine. Problem was a bad earth connection on the ECU and the injectors were not firing due to bad earth when cranking and voltage drop. Took a long time to find it and sorted by S&C. Piers
I was standing close by under cover, when you tried to start your car. I did think that my R300K could suffer the same issue, due to the rain. I am glad your car was sorted and you left running on all cylinders. Piers
I found sitting in the seat and aggressively moving backwards and forwards got it moving. It's very difficult to shift the seat if your not on it. The runners were all jammed up with stones and muck and easy to clean once out. Piers
I have this Machine Mart Polisher. I bought it mainly to polish the exhaust system and it was fine for doing that. I have not used it on the paint, as it is not dual action. I like the fact that there is a speed potentiometer which you can set, so it won't go too fast and get too hot. I'm sure it is a cheap Chinese made unit, but it works for me. Piers
I have had an R300K for 12 years and have it serviced regularly at Sevens and Classics. They have never suggested removing the foam and each time it's been changed, it was fine and not degrading. However, regular oil changes and foam changes need to be done. The 5W/50 oil is correct. Piers
