  1. I was thinking the same thing... Let's have a look tomorrow! Ned
  2. Looking forward to it too. I am bringing my co-builder and older son. He's better at quickly getting the hood on than me! Ned
  3. It was a great day out. Looking forward to next year! Ned
  4. It will certainly get us into Low Flying magazine, I'd have thought... I will bring a camera! Ned
  5. Finally on the road today! I got the V5 in the morning post, rushed around to the local garage to get the plates, then down to Crawley. Unfortunately there is a new paint blemish due to something dripping on the nose cone in their garage... they are going to fix it, though. Then the drive home. Amazingly fun to drive, isn't it!? The M25 was not pleasant, but every other mile was accompanied by a huge grin. Looking forward to seeing you all soon! Ned

    Complete Newbies

Welcome to you both! Post a hello in the main Chitchat section, and you'll get a warm welcome. The Blog area isn't visited as much!
  7. I sent my contact details to you all by direct message. Looking forward to seeing you at the pub! Ned
  8. I bought my vent tube from Tayna batteries. Very helpful and quick, and only £3.83 + P&P. Fits into the battery side perfectly, and I just popped a couple of rivets and tiewrapped the pipe down towards the road under the car. https://www.tayna.co.uk/Banner-Battery-Vent-Tube-P9171.html Ned
  9. All confirmed. I will message you with my contact details just in case. N
  10. Hi Yes, that works for me too. I look forward to the details, and seeing you all there! Best Ned
  11. Mine was taken to its first IVA on a trailer/transporter. Because it failed on a brake problem, CC drove it to Dartford for the next one, and the brakes were fine. I recommend talking it through with Paul Gilchrist nearer the time. He's a very helpful and resonable chap, and I'm sure will be sympathetic to how you want to do it. Ned
  12. waiting.... Waiting for registration....
  13. Hi Simon Just doing my built up vehicle report now, and mine was prefilled by Caterham, leaving the second page completely blank. What did DVLA ask you to do? I'm keen not to get knocked back at this late stage...! N
  14. We should definitely fix something up. I feel kinship with you guys! Can you all cross fingers, pray and whatever else will definitely help for Friday, and my IVA retest? Ta! Ned
  15. I would definitely have been up for it. But sadly my IVA retest is on Friday, so the car is not yet on the road. The first IVA test failed on two things: - fuse blown on windscreen wipers. This is something I'd asked Caterham to fix, as it had already happened to me - L-R brake balance on the front was 'unacceptable'. Nobody seemed to know what this meant, but hopefully CC have gone over it again and fixed it ready for Friday So fingers crossed....! And have a great run out without me! Ned

    Yellow Paint

Not sure if this is helpful, but the standard yellow stripe on mine is called 'Firecracker Yellow'. A search for that comes up with: L24 Firecracker PJ 6170X5150 on a site called Seloc which is for modern Lotus cars. It's a great wikipedia-style resource. Wish we had one too! Ned
  17. That's an elevatortuous pun, JK. But I bet there slots more where that one came from.
  18. FYI, I ordered a LH and RH pair from Caterham recently. Even though the boxes were marked LH and RH, inside the harnesses were identical. I didn't fancy swapping one over, so they resupplied me a correct one. Both mechanisms are now on the inside of the car, which I find is more convenient.
  19. I spent quite a while setting Bigheads up on my new build - following the excellent R500 blog by Daniel. Same thing happened to both of us: Caterham covered them over with Sikaflex during the PBC!
  20. A neat rundown, and food for thought! I've tried to add observations like yours to my blog. On the whole, though, I'm pleased with how we got on. I quite like the cosy feel of the full hood, but this has been restricted to sitting inside it, in my garage, stationary, so too early to say! Ned
  21. Yes, coppa slip is an old trick from my motorbike days...
  22. Sounds great, Martin! When I fitted the seats, I definitely thought those bolts seemed to hang rather low.. I wonder about turning the bolts upside down, or even just Dremel the ends off to save half an inch! My car is awaiting PBC at Caterham, and still no news of an IVA date... Ned
  23. OMP Nurburgrings are nice boots. They don't make my wide-ish feet any narrower, but they don't add any more width. N

    Hot R300

Where on the IoW do you find yourself in stop-start traffic...?! Garlic Farm at teatime? Back on topic, the pre-fitted insulation that Daniel mentioned feels like good quality, and is nicely stuck onto the chassis panels around the footwells etc. I think it would be very hard to retro-fit, though, unless you're willing to pull a lot of stuff out of the way.
