    Speedo

Same here today. Speedo has been rock steady reliable since birth (2014) but today's shakedown at Bedford saw the speedo become erratic above 100mph to then die completely only to live once again on the (admitedly) more sedately run home. Perhaps it was the shock of the sunny weather!
  2. Hi, I'm in the process of trying to get my car ready to be able to enter (at least) the Curborough rounds this year but I am still patiently waiting for my SV petty strut to come through from Caterham (it has been on back order for a number of weeks). In the hope it arrives before the 15th May does anyone have one I can borrow to at least get the passenger side fixing work done in advance? I am on the Bedfordshire/Herfordshire border but am happy to travel a reasonable distance to collect/drop back. Thanks Matthew
  3. Wanted to say a huge thank you to all those involved with organising, running and supporting the day. I really enjoyed getting a peak into the world of sprinting, the drive back in biblical conditions is a distant memory and I seem to be spending a lot of time on man maths around making the car, and myself, eligible to take part in the future. I was one of the early volunteers to provide some copy for low flying, so a more detailed write up of the day to come. Thanks again, Matthew
  4. And then do another track day to bring them back Mine have always done this, irrespective of car or tyre. As KRL says, they clean up again pretty quickly with fast road use.
  5. Amazingly a day at Bedford (GT circuit) didn't finish the tyres off despite some good runs. They did seem to overheat a little if too many laps were run in succession but all good. Had an enforced break for about an hour as an old merc c class was recovered from the top of the bank in the corner of the Eastern part of the circuit (the bit with the gas tank)
  6. Felt a bit for you in the weather, but you looked suitably decked out! :-)
  7. Hi, Does anyone have experience of the usable life of CR500's that are almost fully worn (2.00-1.6mm across the tyre)? I am at Bedford this coming weekend and will be taking a second set of wheels and tyres in any case, but I didn't know if I should just bin this low worn set now? I wasn't expecting to get more than a morning's use out of them perhaps before changing sets for the afternoon (and/or journey home). Thanks, Matthew
  8. Thanks for the comments - thought I would check!
  9. Prepping the car for Bedford next Sat and noticed that the oil catch tank on my dry dumped R400D had about an inch of off coloured sludge, a bit mayonnaise like and smelling like a cross between fuel and oil. Coolant system is fine with no discolouration. The pipe leading from the Apollo tower to the catch tank didn't have the sludge inside (just on the end where it sits in the catch tank). I have cleaned and refitted to keep an eye. Anything major to be concerned about or just the result of cold air running in the colder months plus some residual oil in the catch tank being mixed? Thanks Matthew
  10. Safe and sound there and back to Dunsfold yesterday, thanks for the tips!
  11. Thanks, loading up now...
  12. Having thought I had mastered most of the skills needed to be confident trailering my 7 to Dunsfold tomorrow I seem to have stumbled upon the thorny subject of getting the nose weight distribution right. I have hired a BJ CT4 trailer (with integrated front tyre rack which I won't be using) but don't have a set of scales or nose weight gauge to accurately measure. Other than loading the 7 on front forward and being prepared to adjust forward/rewards on the journey, are there any other recommendations for loading the 7 (R400 SV) and placing it correctly on the trailer for the journey in the morning? Thanks Matthew
  13. Hmmm, didn't think about that. Might fit the half hood in the morning before setting off, not quite as dry as I thought it might be as well...
  14. Timely, was about to post the same question. luckily don't think I will need to get one before I trailer to the Dunsfold event tomorrow as the weather looks Ok...
  15. Hi Martin, I assume you got this sorted ok. As Mark said, about 25mm in from the part of the wheel that is furthest from the kerb (trying to describe as best as possible) and as close to the inside of the rim on the part of the wheel that is closest to the kerb. Having some tyres changed over as I type so if you are stuck, post again and I will see if I can upload a picture from my mobile. Matthew
  16. The carpet trim parts on my tillets are peeling away from the seat shell and I want to glue them back on. Recommendations for the best adhesive to use that won't damage the GRP? Thanks Matthew
  17. Hi Tom, I plan to hire the first couple of times. I actually had 7pin electrics fitted as I thought I would be trailering more than anything else only to find the bike rack I bought uses 13 pin (hence an adapter needed!) Matthew
  18. Hi, As title - I'd like to know what options people would recommend for parking an aeroscreen'd 7 in wet weather...I have looked at the various showercaps from softbits but they all seem to be designed to work with the full windscreen in place? Thanks Matthew
  19. It does seem a crazy situation, I will make sure I check the plated gross weight of the trailer, but the 2000KG for the Yeti should give me more options... Tom - silly question but did you find it easy to do as a one man job? I have a couple of trailered trips to make in May and I will be on my own for all of them... Thanks, Matthew
  20. Licence is good = I am old So kerbweight of the Yeti is 1535kg, Max towing weight is listed as 2000kg (which is for a braked trailer)...so I think I should be OK for a Brian James A-Max plus the R400?
  21. Evening all... Have taken delivery of my new daily drive - A Skoda Yeti 4x4 (Diesel 140bhp) and am getting a towbar fitted soon. I have never understood the braked/unbraked towing weights but intend to hopefully tow my R400 using the Yeti, likely using a Brian James A-Max or similar. Is this possible? Matthew
