9 hours to get home, 6 hours spent in Sainsbury's Car Park in Staines having been in Essex for a wedding. How do you guys cope with living in the south east, I spent hours watching what can only be described as a huge number of overweight morons filling up with petrol. Truly staggering

 

I think thermostat stuck closed so car got hot (though guage didn't go over the 4th bar) and mr AA man says pressure building in system so he thinks head gasket gone which resulted in a truck home to Somerset. (Fitted new head gasket and dowels only in November and car has done about 200 miles since)

 

I seem to have rotten luck with this car and wish either i had left it well alone and not upgraded or got anothr porsche, at least they can manage more than a few miles without needing roadside assist. Sorry guys but seriously p**sed off and fed up ☹️

 

Time for another 993 so may have brand new aero and half doors for sale shortly.

 

Don't know next step but am flying to Morocco tomorrow to relax will decide what to do whilst pondering on a beach.

Bad luck bill, not sure about Mr.AA mans diagnosis but that does seem like it would be a bit unlucky if it is the case.

 

There are plenty of K's running around merrily with lots of miles on I guess it just a case of finding the root cause and getting it sorted once and for all.

 

Cooling/air in the system does seem to be a bit of a pain with a K series though.

i've just had a bath and thought about it and i just love the seven too much to dump it. However the car didn't overheat it just got hotter than normal (which is why i stopped) according to the guage but there is a bit of scum in the header tank. Garage will have a look at it in a couple of weeks. I would be a bit surprised if it's HG but actaully thinking about it, nothing would surpise me with a seven. I think it's 1 week on the road seven off

 

And the real p**ser was 6 hours in a car park in staines and not one spotted

Thanks for the offer John but i can't see a way of getting it to Sussex and the garage next door to me (literally) do quite a few sevens so they'll look at it week after next.

 

New 72 degree thermostas and possible new head gasket

 

It's been a poor week family and car wise BUT i am an eternal optimist and at least i am not starving and the family are safe and in good health, everything else is really rather unimportant in life, it's only money after all. I'm sure we'll get the car fixed and i will then just have to see what else can go wrong

 

There seems to be a bit of scum in the header tank but when the engine was done we did the dowels and upgraded the gasket so it would be unfortunate but that's cars for you
