Cornelius
Has anybody done this before? Any to look out for? PS does anybody know the engine N0.'s for the 160bhp trophy engine? Cheers, Cornelius
rgrigsby
A Zetec might be a lot easier.... 😬 At a minimum I'm guessing you'll need the later engine mount points and gearbox mount, not sure what else has changed though. Paul Formston
Why would you want to put A k series in a Ford crossflow Seven the Zetec is the way to go just look at the problems lads have with the K series overheating the Zetec is so reliable iv'e done 10,000 miles since June with out A hick up or an over heating problem and some of the miles where in Germany in hot conditions Regards Paul
Cornelius
I'm fitting a K for reasons of cost and ease of parts from people I know. A 160 bhp trophy engine will cost less than 1k from a scrapy, includes wiring loom, ecu and all the sensors. To that I will have to add a bell house, exhaust manifold, differnet engine mounts and mod the chassis a little. The Zetec would cost a min of 3k if I wanted fuel injection. On the USA TOUR the K's had no problem with the heat 38 C, high humidity and altitude. Right now it's the cost effective solution for me.
Paul Formston
Sorry Cornelius I suppose that is A good enough reason but there are a lot of very good Zetecs in the scrap yards too, and in my experiance thay are very rearly worn you would have to be very unlucky to get one that would need much more than a set of Rings and bigend shells, I must admit the raceline sump water rail and exhurst and throtle bodys cost me A lot of money but thay were well worth it any way good lukewith the convertion and hope you have it sorted for next sesons blating Best Regards
elie boone
The live axle K series was an official Caterham model in Belgium for arround 1993 as a low cost model.
Mike Bees
They did a batch for Japan now that you mention it. Think it was around the mid nineties. Mike
