oldbutnotslow
Martin has made a good point that applies to everyone. PLEASE BE CLEAR You can buy just the basic unit from Quaife. You dont need to have it fitted by either Quaife or Road & Race. If you want just the basic unit the only thing that ypou will need to pay is the postage froM Quaife to you. Neill Anderson
My hunch is that the bearing issue is not one of whether they are worn at all, simply that it is almost impossible to guarantee their removal without damage and so the only sure method to guarantee a professional job is to quote for new bearings and seals. It may well be possible to remove them and re-use them but I doubt that it can be taken for granted, regardless of age or mileage. oldbutnotslow
OK Quaife have confirment the price for the Marina Ital axle. Cost for a similar quantity of Marina ATB Differentials is £460 - 25% cost per unit @ £345 + Vat Costs to fit to differential housing £150 +Vat inc bearings Kind regards Mick Oakley I will post an updated list of those who have confirmed that they want to go ahead. Those of you who were possibles will you please have a think whether you want to be part of the BB. There is still no final committment at this stage. also I will negotiate with quaife a window during which you will be able to place an order and obtain the BB discount. NB If we dont get enough members committing the price may not hold up of course Grant 😬 183 BHP of Black and 'Stone Chip' excitement. 😬 here Edited by - oldbutnotslow on 25 Oct 2005 18:54:

Neill Anderson
Grant, Count me in for a Quaife, my only concern being that I could not get it out in the next few weeks, I guess earliest for me would be mid to late November. But other than that make me a definite for a Sierra De Dion Quaife. Thanks again Neill A New 7 Owner 1996 VX 2.
oldbutnotslow
Martin I dont think that it would be a problem. oldbutnotslow
R&R cant do anything meaningful on the ZF plate LSD. Ive spoken to CC to see what if anything they are prepared to do. oldbutnotslow
2 more routes are being explored in respect of the ZF plate Dif. More news as it happens. Grant 😬 183 BHP of Black and 'Stone Chip' excitement. 😬 here

John Howe
Grant, I appreciate you are still delving into this subject but any rough Idea what the earliest delivery might be for supplying a LSD only? Dave McCulloch
Grant I'm going to pass on the Quaife - but if you get a good price on the plated diff I'll be going that route. Thanks for your efforts. Dave
7 wonders of the world
John, If your looking for a plate LSD now try Tran X, I got 12.5% discount on 1 unit and they offered Grant 17.5% on a batch of 10......... cheers Neil.

Andy A
12.5% and 17.5% off what? I'm holding out for news on a good ZF price (the diff of choice). Maybe a bulk buy that way John?
Neill Anderson
That's a good point made by Andy. And although for road manners the Quaife gets my vote I am happy to add to the numbers if the Bulk Buy heads down the plate type road, prices remaining sensible etc etc Thanks Neill A New 7 Owner 1996 VX 2.
7 wonders of the world
Andy, Go back in this thread and the prices are there, it also seems the ZF route may tied up so I'm simply offering to others the deal I secured. The ZF may have carpark kudos, however check out the charteristics before you buy, most need Phil's (R&R) 'touch' to modofy them for use with a 7. cheers Neil

Andy A
Neil, Well I dont think my old hpc has ever been accused of seeking carpark Kudos before (particularly since it has trouble finding the local meet) but a nice phrase. I can see your temptation in using it. And OK. I'll switch doubly_dilligent_thread_search_mode=true in future. Seriously though - are you saying there's more to this than setting a matched ramp and pre-load? Andy.
oldbutnotslow
Sorry that there have been no updates of late. I have been away and have only accessed BC through a clients computer. Caterham have said that if we were to order 10 ZF' difs the price will be £540 + vat Thats a 10% saving from the over the counter price. Remenber that you still have the fitting charge on top of this. I still have one more avenue to explore on the ZF front. They offered Grant 17.5% on a batch of 10......... Neil, Im not sure that I knew about this? I will post a note of who wants what over the weekend and try to bring this to a head at least with Quaife next week. If you have sent me an e-mail I will also reply over the weekend Grant 😬 183 BHP of Black and 'Stone Chip' excitement. 😬 here Edited by - oldbutnotslow on 4 Nov 2005 14:27:
