RARB Fitting

What used to be a 1.8 supersport 97 on an RARB is £88 plus the VAT but how easy to fit, someone has said i need to remove the diff to fit it?

Bill, you don't need to remove the diff, but it can be a pain in the 🙆🏻 to get it over the top. I think you do need to remove on of the dampers tho.

You do need to remove the plywood floor in the boot. No prob. Then, you fiddle, swear and curse a lot. I recall unbolting the bottom damper connections to the de dion tube which let you move the tube enough to get the thing in.

😬 such a varied number of opinions

 

if its a "over the top" arb , then you can jack the rear of the car up to unload the suspensiona dn then carefully insert the arb past the dampers and over the top of the diff . It is tight and for some reason I also found it easier to insert from the off side ( drivers) . You dont need to remove the diff , dampers or floor ( but removing the floor could certainly help you ).

 

you also need to insert the drop bolts beneath the roll bar mounts .

I did it by removing boot floor but nothing else. I was however 30 seconds from giving up when suddenly it was in place, and I don't quite know how! The moral: keep trying.
