Lightweight Rear Caliper inc Handbrake

Aparently - From Rally design

Compares weight to Sierra caliper so assume mounting points are the same.

This looks like the golf caliper that had issues being fitted.

Interesting to find out how/what they have done to make it fit, piston size etc.

In the picture it looks like the caliper is the alloy Golf bit, but it's using a new carrier presumably with the Sierra mountings. Neat.

I guess its single piston again, the only advantage would be 1kg per side weight saving?

It looks as though it'll cool a bit better than the Sierra caliper.

But if the piston area were smaller then it would give a firmer pedal and improve front to rear balance.

If you've got big (AP) fronts then it'll make the balance worse... What we all want is a nice 2-pot rear caliper with built-in handbrake.

But my point still stands for those on std front brakes.

 

If you want more power then you could try here

without rear handbrake of course - but you could swap back for MOT, I am giving it serious consideration - just for the weight and bleeding then putting a limiting valve in.

When I fitted the golf ones I didn't have to adjust the balance.

 

The Caterham cable can fit this set up without modification, it did with mine

 

I can't see any difference in the holder, but I don't recall exactly what it looked like.

 

There might still be clearance issues on 13 inch wheels.
