ross walker
First year of Caterham ownership and I'm trying to determine what the current choice of list 1A tyres is to replace 720's (185 60 R13) for hillclimbing. I know this is an old issue that has been much contested but as a newcomer i seem to have missed out on the argument, let alone the conclusion! Any help much appreciated! Delberts Wallet
Not really sure what the choice is now. I tried some falkens but they weren't as good so I've now decided to go to list 1b tyres and move up a class within the club regs. Area Representative Richard Price Posted April 4, 2005 Area Representative Share Posted April 4, 2005 Ross, I don't think there is a conclusion yet! I will certainly be watching other peoples performance's on other tyres (that may mean several trips to various other events) very carefully this year as I try to determine what to replace my very tired RE720's with. What events are you planning to do? What tyres do you currently have? Why list 1a's?

ross walker
Thank you all very much for your suggestions. I am still trying to reach a conclusion! Another recommendation has been the Firestone FH700? Has anyone had any experience of this one?
SteveP
I don't think that they are available in 13" (maybe wrong though), but I'm hoping to try Toyo Proxes T1-S or T1-R on my R300 on 15" rims (don't know if the latter are 1A or not, awaiting Blue Book from MSA). Don't know how much power you have and in the face of what others say, I just don't like the RE720s in 185/60 13" guise. Too much squirm and simply not enough grip at the back end. For 13" believe that Yoko A539 are supposed to be good SteveP The Caterham Pages here
