Strangely
Hello all, My long-standing K-Series starter click problem is fixed, but it's probably not much use to the rest of you sufferers ☹️. It was down to a break in the live lead from the battery master switch to the starter. There's a bit more detail and a picture here, if you're interested: http://www.strangely.org/diary/200410/fixed.html Cheery, (A very happy ) Jason. Tony Whitley
I can't think why it would have caused the misfire, unless the open insulation was causing wires to short and leak to ground? If this is the main supply then there would have been big voltage drop and that can be enough to cause a misfire - I know because when my alternator disconnected the engine started to misfire badly (combined with a low temperature reading I was convinced the HG had gone) a few miles before the battery gave up completely.
