tonym
Can anyone please advise if they know of a non-abrasive solution which would remove the black rubberised compound currently attaching the front number plate to the nosecone on my 7? shn7
Don't know the actual answer but suspect it's fixed with the gunge used to fit windscreeen. So have you tried talking to your local windscreen replacement shop? Steve.
paulyb
Mine just peeled off after vigorous rubbing with fingers / fingernails. Could they have changed the goo?

Peter Carmichael
Test first on a bit of nosecone out of sight, but my guess is the gloop would succumb to cellulose thinners.
bongomania
rubbed mine off with my thumb. It was rubberised double sided tape. Honk if you love peace and quiet. See the Purple Beast at Seven-Ecstasy.co.uk
Smiffy
I used Halfords "Bug and Tar" remover and it worked just fine. Just sprayed it on, left it to soak for a minute and took a damp cloth to it. It did take 2 or 3 applications but only took me 5-10 minutes to do. If you are really struggling, I'll send you some of my local carry out's Extra Vindaloo sauce ...... apply to the gluey area before going to bed and by morning there will just be a watery liquid in its place !! tonym
Thanks for the replies. I will reserve angle grinder for a next-to-last resort as this would definitely lead to the purchase of a new nose cone. Curry is nice idea however madras is more to my taste. Essentially wishing to avoid damaging paintwork and carbon fibre so will attempt the chemical suggestions to remove the gunge-like compound. Incidentally, CC suggested razor blades. I've never tried to shave the nose cone on a 7 but there's always a first for everything. Tony
