Kermit the K
Oil in my 1.6K is getting on for 3,000 miles old, so i'm going to change it. Is there a problem with changing to a different viscosity? current oil is Vauxhall fully synthetic (5w-50 I think) as fitted by caterham service agent. I have a 4 litre pack of Agip fully synthetic 0w-50. Does it matter that the oil is a different rating? Will it mix, bearing in mind i'm not going to change the foam sump baffle for another 3,000 miles? (Obviously I am going to change the filter.) John Howe
Can't see a problem in changing the viscosity... any remaining oil will hardly change the viscosity average. The real problem is when you change the type of oil and then get a chemical reaction, such a toffee.
Kermit the K
Just read the Agip pack, and it's actually rated at 0w-40. Kermit the K
Bare
Dunno.. 0 weight always seems to me to be overly thin...may be just fine.. but I wouldn't go experimenting on my own engine ;-)
