Owner wants to convert it back to petrol.

Story goes is it was a palmer caterham experience thing. Apparently was a few of them, drifting and donuts etc.

anyone seen / heard or know anything more about this ?

It's probably more than 20 years ago that I used to do a bit of marshalling at Bruntingthorpe with Palmersport, and can confirm the Caterhams and others had been converted to LPG, it was one of our jobs to refuel them at lunchtime and the end of day.

I remember lots of talk about LPG years ago, but cant remember why it was deemed a good idea.

Why was it a "thing" and what happened ?

It was achievable with pretty simple modifications to petrol engines. The supply chain for the fuel was already in place. It did reduce some types of emissions (but increased others). And it avoided some taxes.
