Dan R
I am planning on refreshing the coolant over the winter and am interested if there is a procedure for doing this to avoid airlocks. I am aware that it can be an issue on a K, but didn't know if there was a preferred way to carry this out on a Duratec ?
KnifeySpoony
I have found burping my 420R very simple and quick. Basically just fill into the header tank with the bleed screw open with the car running and the front elevated slightly on stands. Once the coolant comes blasting out of the bleed hole, it's done. Doc007
I presume you have the heater stopper pulled out whilst emptying/filling? And the “bleed screw” you’re referring to being on the radiator? I’ve got a Radtec and I’m not sure it have a bleed screw. Is there an alternative bleed point?
Member Jonathan Kay Posted February 11 Member Share Posted February 11 (edited) The heater circuit should be open. And you can add a bleeding T-piece in the highest part of that. If this wouldn't work for some reason please add some photos. Jonathan Edited February 11 by Jonathan Kay

This is the bleed screw on my 2008 R400D: This rad is whatever CC fitted in 2008/9. Does your Radtec have something similar? Photos would be good. Dan R
If its anything like mine then it also has a drain plug on the opposite lower corner. Much easer less messy than taking the bottom hose off to drain.
