Tony Smith
Happy New Year everyone,Hope we all had a good Christmas and are now looking forward to the new season. Maybe its just me but the videos I have seen of Cadwell make it look like a daunting prospect in March on a cold slippery track having not driven the car for 6 months and never at Cadwell. In view of this I have booked on the trackday on the Friday for some sighting laps and maybe some coaching.Hopefully will see some of you on the Friday and the Saturday Tony

Drumster
Tony, be positive.... I did this sprint last March and it was pleasantly dry and very warm as can be seen here and if you listen very carefully around the 55/56 sec mark on the video you'll hear my alternator fan hitting the underside of the driver's floor
Tony Smith
Ah thats why you where going so slow I did wonder!!!It was your video that convinced me I needed to get some practice in before driving it in anger. What are the chances of it being dry two years in a row? Dobson_justin
Good idea to get practice Tony, it's quite a tricky track, I have only done one track day there in my old car, but it was an eye opener. A few of us are going on 12th March for a pre-season track day. See you at Round 1!
Tony Smith
I was going to go for the 12th, but I would have forgotten everything by the time the season starts
Drumster
Incidentally Cadwell was my first ever trackday back in 2002 and in the damp. After the first buttock-clenching session I decided some instruction was necessary as I didn't have a clue! (some say I still don't ). You'll be fine Tony just drive at your usual pace In those days the wall on the outside of The Hairpin was just the other side of the white line. Kinda kept you focused
Wrightpayne
Whenever I've been at our trackdays at Cadwell, both spectating and participating, its the mountain and hall bends that are tricky and where I've seen the most incidents. On the mountain everything goes light and there appears to be a kink in the track - I always kept steering straight up and over it. Hall bends and the hairpin are under trees so can stay damp longer than the rest of the circuit plus the tarmac has whatever falls from / out of the trees contaminating it!I didn't have tuition but went out as a passenger with someone who knew the circuit well and had lots more track experience than me. Made a big difference to my speed and enjoyment!
Leadership Team Mcalvert Posted January 9, 2023 Leadership Team Share Posted January 9, 2023 Not sure if it's a good thing or a real shame that the sprint layout at Cadwell doesn't include the Mountain (or at least it didn't when we competed there last...) Drumster
BARC sprint last year started after the Mountain and finished before the Mountain

Tony Smith
Would you not agree Michael, that Kim would be much happier in class 2.As I understand it the 1A tyres are much better and all the competitors are really friendly.Just trying to help
