WANTED type 9 casing or whole gearbox

I am in need of a new casing mine is cracked. Looking for another stock casing, alloy casing or a whole gearbox.

Alex,

There are two types of casing - the XR4i box as used by Caterham and the standard Sierra one. Some of the bearings are beefed up in the XR4 version.

Thats as much as I know - I'm sure others know more, and how to identify each type.

Has your got the 3 bolt stub shaft the secures the front of the laygear, its situated directly below the first motion shaft...?

Hi Andrew, this is my fallback plan,  wasn't expecting this repair, and so there I assume there must be some casings around from those who have upgraded to the tracsport (unless their units had cracked...)

I'm not sure about the bolt arrangement,   I'll go take a look underneath - its all currently in the car.

there are casings about but you need to tell us which type of iran case you have...... as above

unless you can peer through the clutch cable slot in the bellhousing you cant see otherwise..... borescope probe on the mobile phone might help

There is only a round hole in the bell housing. where the nose of the gearbox comes through so doubt you'll see the plate and three bolts.

some have a full cut out.... had one of each so probalby a 50/50 chance
