I've just drained the oil and dropped the sump to remove the old foam on my k series.

I'm now having real trouble refitting the sump.  It just doesn't seem to want to go on properly, there seems to be too much of a gap at the front of the engine.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

I wonder if it could be the oil pick up pipe being a bit low at the end where it goes up into the engine, but I had to move it down slightly to enable the bolts to line up correctly and go in smoothly.

Have I got the metal plate and gasket in the right order?

I've updated the image (not sure why it was such a small thumbnail originally).

Also another image here:

The metal prongs were hardly fitting through the holes in the metal plate.  I guess they are there to hold the (now removed) foam in place.

Is the pick up pushed fully home on the o rings? I'd undo the bolt and try re-inserting it with a bit of fresh oil.

Top tip - take photos as you dis-assemble then you can ensure it goes back in the right order.

Thanks, this was the issue, I wiggled the pickup further up and then the sump fitted on perfectly.
