Tazio Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Can someone confirm the top fixing bolt sizes to fix an FIA bar to an imperial chassis, from memory they are 5/16 by an inch, and 7/16 by 1 inch, with a unf thread, am I right?CheersAlan
rj Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Alan, I think it depends on the age of the car. Some cars (earlier) have it fittet purely from the top and bolted down to the chassis like live axle cars, whereas it later was bolted from the bottom with a turned down shallow head bolt, just above the damper.
Tazio Posted August 24, 2020 Author Posted August 24, 2020 RJ, thanks for that, the cars is a 1990 de dion, I think there should be three fixing bolts, the very shallow ones that fix from under the turrets, ( I have those), and one in the top rail, and a smaller one just behind the bar itself.
rj Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 It would be informative if you'd tell us what the content of the secret message is :-p I was just about going to my garage to see if I could sort you (it's 8 miles away) but if you already have the information it'd be waste of time.
Tazio Posted August 24, 2020 Author Posted August 24, 2020 Jonathan simply asked if I had a build manual, answer was nope lol, but Ian , Wrightpayne on here Whatsapped me the relevant page, I was right re sizes, so there so i do remember somethings, much to my wife's amazement!.
rj Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Thank you for clarifying. Then I suppose there's no reason to dig up the fastner pack in the garage :-p
