Wrightpayne
I've just changed the complete shifter on my Porsche 911 (996) from a very worn array of plastic parts to a later OEM 997 GT3 version with metal bearings and slightly shorter throw. The difference is night and day and the occasional high rev graunch from third to forth has gone, so thats two gearbox rebuilds saved by selector mechanism improvements. I fear mine would have been considerably more expensive so greatly relieved! Ian
rj
What Ian said.Wrong oil can cause funny issues - such as missing or sticky gears.Even correct grade (GL4) oil behave differently in the 6-speed.(Edited to add I replied to an earlier post of Ians - the one about the oil)
