I've owned my 2007 car for coming on 4 yrs now and am loving it.However, the exhaust is getting louder as time goes by to the extent that its now uncomfortable without earplugs even at relatively low speeds.I'm wondering what the options. John Vine Posted January 3, 2020 Share Posted January 3, 2020 Does your silencer look like this? These photos show my original 2008 R400D silencer. As you can see, there are no rivets in the end plates, so repacking is probably not an option. Judging by the photos in 4# above it looks like Caterham changed their exhaust silencer supplier sometime around 2006?Also another thread shows how a non-repackable silencer can be modified. Area Representative Geoff Brown Posted January 5, 2020 Area Representative Share Posted January 5, 2020 Aeroscreens - Yes they are the threads I had in mind.So with some Dremel surgery re-packing is a possibility. With the second thread & the need for some support for the centre perforated tube to the end cap would an upgrade of a stainless steel sleeve welded to the inside of the end cap work?
