Jumpin Jack Flash
Hi everyone, Starting to make my list for the 2020 saison and one (expensive) item I shall be needing is a new FIA approved harness. I know Schroth is making a specific Caterham type, but I do not like them. It is the most expensive one on the market and I would like to have the type where the crutch straps pass through a ring attached to the lap belt. Alternatives are: Willans Silverstone 633 Single seater (FIA 8853/2016) TRS Pro 6 point single seater (FIA 8853/98) TRS Pro Superlite single seater (FIA 8853/98) Anyone experience with these alternatives? Or are there other possibilities? JJF
Area Representative admaraujo Posted December 25, 2019 Area Representative Share Posted December 25, 2019 May I ask why you don't like Schroth? Is it just because of the crutch strap?
Jumpin Jack Flash
Indeed, that is the main reason. On the other hand I don' t like that screaming yellow script on the black straps. Just cosmetic, but I am a traditional guy ...
Englishmaninwales
Luke 6 point may suit your needs with a D ring in the waist belts, but are a little wide in the HANS shoulder channels. Cheaper than the Schroth.
CaterBram
I use Schroth, but not the Caterham Specific ones, I went for the Schroth Enduro 6 Points, which have the Buckle on the Crotch Strap, and the lap belts adjust at the buckle pulling away from the buckle so dead easy & quick to adjust with no seat conflict. Fitted them before the start of the last season and found them the most secure and comfortable harness i've had.
Doctor
I have a right side (buckle on the left lap strap) LUKE 6 point harness still in the box FIA until 2022 - bought it before they launched Schroth which I would like to buy as made to fit with HANS. Mine is for an SV. Happy to part company if interested.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted December 26, 2019 Member Share Posted December 26, 2019 TTBOMK every manufacturer will put the buckle on the L or R and the adjusters to pull up or down according to preference. Recent discussion.Jonathan

elie boone
it's no big job to switch the buckle yourself.
Jumpin Jack Flash
Thx for the advice. I didn' t know that Willans give a club discount. On their site, there are still types with the crutch straps going through rings on the lap belts. JJF
