paisesmediterraneos
I have a 2003 1.6 K Roadsport. Since I bought the car it has an acoustic signal (beep beep...) when I turn the side indicators on; it's fine to remind you they are on. In the last months, sometimes when I turn the side indicators on, the beep takes some seconds to appear; but in the last three weeks it never appears.Do you know if this acoustic indicator is coming from factory in the Caterhams or maybe the last owner installed it?.Do you know where is this relay or acoustic item fixed in the car and where can I buy it via internet (I am from Spain).Regards, David. anthony1956
I installed one beeper per direction bought from Halfords for 80p each, many years ago. They work fine to this day. They are attached one to each side of the switch and to earth, very simple.FWIW I am unaware of factory fit beepers. Mine are also useful in close quarters as they can be heard outside the car. Before that I drove everywhere with winkers on. Most embarassing, the warning light is/was always useless, far too weak. Anthony.edit Spain? I will see if I can find the item online .. but don’t hold your breath..image search for buzzers similar to mine;https://www.google.com/search?q=buzzers+electronicsin fact it looks like these buzzers I use are intended for use when a trailer is attached to confirm the trailer indicators are working.. such as happens on my tow car when towing the seven. SM25T
Caterham fit the beeper ... a tiny device wrapped up in the loom I believe. Many hate it and remove it. My car is too old to have one .... I wouldn't want one ... try to use 1st gear, change to 2nd, then cancel indicator.
JonL
My 2006 K series beeper is just behind the dash close to the indicator switch. It's small, about the size of 3 5pence pieces stacked up. I put some electrical tape over mine to muffle the beep as it is very loud without it.
Stridey
Mine is aftermarket and piggy backs the indicator switch, so perhaps track back from there to find a buzzer.Mine comes on after about 10 ticks and goes off if my brake is depressed so not constant in traffic.I find it very useful. revilla
I fitted one of these:https://www.bikevis.com/product/motorcycle-smidsy-visual-turn-signal-reminder/Works brilliantly. Gives a very gentle ticking reminder when you first put the indicators on (not the horrible rasping of a piezo buzzer), then after a configurable time delay a reminder beep which gets louder. Ticking is silenced and timer delay is reset by the brakes. I did a simple wiring mod with a relay wired to the handbrake to make the handbrake reset it too. So it doesn't start beeping when braking for a junction or when holding at a junction in traffic. I would say it's 95% accurate - occasionally beeps unnecessarily on a long roundabout but that's about all.Actually I've found an old picture and a diagram ...The small extra brown box you can see in there and labelled "Chime Bell" above is actually the chime module from a Daewoo Kalos. Modified with a three wire connector as shown below, it gives a nice gentle chime reminder if I leave the main or dipped beam headlight on when I take they key out! paisesmediterraneos
Thank you very much for your answer;, next weekend I will try to find it behind the dash, close to the indicator switch as you told me and I will try to find a new one via internet.Best wishes, David. davestevenson
My 2007 had the same small beeper taped into the loom up by the steering column. Drove me potty! I replaced it with an Audicator (http://audicator.com/product.html) so that the beep is disabled whilst you have your foot on the brake, and then waits 10 flashes before nagging you.
