  1. Hello, I am David from Spain; I'm looking for a draught reducer for standard seats for my Caterham S3. Must be posted to Spain, of course I will pay the the draught reducer plus the shipping cost. Thank you, regards, David.
  2. Thank you very much, I will tell him to send me photos of the car and I'll send him the information you gave me. Regards, David.
  3. I am David from Spain, one of my friends have an old Seven, he doesn't know if it is a real Lotus Seven or a replica. He told me the chassis number is BL 1631 R, do any of you know this chassis number could be from a real Lotus Seven?. Thank you very much and merry Christmas.
  4. Thank you very much Jonathan, it's all what I needed!!.
  5. I already bought the brake pads, I was reading the part 5 of Get To Know Your 7 about changing the brake pads. Last weekend I changed the front ones, but the part 5 of GTKY7 doesn´t explain how to change the rear pads, where the hand brake is also fixed, they only explain how to check the wear on the pads. Must I remove the caliper to change the pads??, how to remove the pads, I don't see pad retaining pins as the front calipers??, any consideration about the rear brake adjust??. Thank you very much.
  6. Thank you very much I will start looking for them. Regards.
  7. I don't know if they are Girling and Ford, I posted photos of them. Thank you, regards.
  8. I don't know if they are Girling and Ford, I send photos of them. This is the front caliper: And this is the rear caliper:
  9. I am David from the south of Spain. I have a 2003 Caterham 1.6 k Roadsport EU3. I would like to change the brake pads. Do you know if the Caterham brake pads are being used by any other British car??, I can find in Spain MG, Triumph and any other British cars spares but nor Caterham. The last orders I made to UK I paid import taxes plus customs charges and it made the bill to grow much more. I only drive in road not track or race. Thank you, regards, David.
  10. Hello, I live in the south of Spain, I have a 2003 1.6 K Roadsport EU3. I use it for road drive only, but always in mountain curved roads. In the last time I feel it not as balanced as before and the dampers use to be ok and with no leaks. I think they never checked in the car the wheel alignment. I think it's time to do it. Which camber/caster and toe in/toe out must be the right one for drive it in curved roads but not track??, must I check it without driver or must I check it with driver inside (or equivalent weight)??, ¿¿any more advise??. Thank you, regards, David.
  11. I wrote two weeks ago to the address bruce@archmotor.co.uk and info@archmotor.co.uk, and I had no answer. My spoken English is not good enough to have a fluent phone conversation about technical things, this is why I prefer to write them than to call them. Do you know if the company Arch Motors is open??. Regards, David.
  12. Thank you very much Stephen, I was reading articles in the archive, but I didn't find John Watson's one, it's really interesting.
  13. Thank you very much for the contact details of Bruce Robinson, I will write him right now.
  14. I am in Spain and in the process of restoration my Lotus Seven S4 I discovered the car had a front crash in the past and the front box section was repaired not very good, do you know if it's being sold anywhere the front box section??, if not I will need to do a hard repairing job. The full chassis except the front box section is perfect and I cannot consider a full chassis replacing by the cost of a new chassis and the transport to Spain. Regards from the south of Spain, David.
  15. Thank you for all the advices, really appreciated. I'm very happy, I found a club member who accepted the proposition, so the Caterham will be in good hands for the clutch surgery. Thank you again.
  16. Thank you for all your advices!!!! TomB, I ordered last week an hydraulic engine crane, I also have platforms to stand up up the car, ratchets to hold the car, an hydraulic jack...I will add the new cover bolts to the order of parts, I didnt think about them, thank you. rj, thank you, I will add the spigot bearing to the parts I will order to Chris Mintoft. Thank you again, regards.
  17. I don't know if this is the right blatchat section for this post, but as it's about mechanic I write it here. If the admin thinks it's not the right place, please, move it to another section. Hello, I am David from Granada (south of Spain). I have a 2003 1.6K Roadsport EU3, since I bought the car the clutch is not fine. Finally I've decided to change de clutch kit. In Spain we have no Caterham dealership and I don't trust at all in a mechanic that has never seen a Caterham to move out the whole engine. I know something about mechanic and have at home a lot of tools, but I don't know to the level of move the engine out of the car and change the clutch. I would also like to learn more about the mechanic of my car...so I was wondering if someone want to help me to do it. I will pay a flight ticket from U.K to Malaga or Granada (go and return), I will go to pick you up to the airport, you will stay in my house and I will show you the wonderful Granada in the free time. I have also a lot of beer at home to refresh us when we will do the mechanic. I don't know how much time we will spend changing the clutch (I never did it), but if we will take one or two days to do it, I can buy the flight tickets for you to stay here 4, 5 days or a full week, so I will have time to show you Granada and enjoy our monuments, beers and tapas. I know in these moments it will be difficult to travel, so maybe we can plan to do it in autumn or winter, no more late than next spring ( I don't know if the clutch will resist so much). If any of you has experience about moving out the engine of the car and changing clutch and is interested about my proposition, tell me and we will plan it. I will order all the spares to Chris Mintoft (Redline). I will order the clutch kit (cover, plate and bearing), bell housing gasket, crankshaft seal, gearbox to clutch seal and the exhaust manifold gasket. Regards, David.
  18. In the process of restoring my Lotus S4, I must move it on a platform car crane to the painter and the mechanic, the engine is not running by now. I was looking all everywhere under the car and doesn't have any tow ring as my Caterham has. Where can I fix the strap to pull the car on the platform car crane without damaging the suspension??. Regards, David.
  19. I used in my Caterham and other cars NURAL 5 from PATTEX, it's a special glue for car mirrors. I never had problems and the mirrors never were unglued. Regards
  20. My jacket arrived today to the south of Spain, I like it a lot !!!!. Thank you very much Stephen!!!!. Regards, David.
  21. When I wrote "upgrade sound" I wanted to say more sports sound; I had some years ago a Lotus Elise S1 and I changed the original exhaust for a Larini exhaust, I had more power and the noise was much better, the original exhaust was very quieter and not sports sound. The original exhaust that my car has for the homologation in 2003 at Spain is very quiet.
  22. It is necessary the catalyst for the Spanish MoT for a car of year 2003. The values at the last MoT were: CO at idle speed: 0,01% CO at 3.000rpm: 0,01% Lambda: 1,034/1,004 The limit values allowed are: CO at idle speed: 0,3% CO at 3.000rpm: 0,2% Lambda: from 0,07 to 1,03
  23. Hello, I have a 2003 1.6 k series Roadsport EU3, built for the Spanish market. The exhaust system of my car has 4 pieces: -Exhaust manifold/collector with the first lambda sensor -Catalyst with the second lambda sensor -Silencer with rear exit -final tube (almost straight). The car had from factory also a rear silencer (under tank), but was removed and replaced for a straight final tube. I would like to know if it's possible to change the silencer for another one with better sound and giving more power to the car (without changing the manifold/collector and catalyst that the car has from factory). And if it's possible, wich one do you recommend?. As the silencer has no lambda sensor (they are in the collector and the catalyst), I think it won´t affect to the ECU and the smokes at the MOT test (in Spain called ITV), am I right or will it affect?. Regards, David.
  24. Thank you very much for all the advices, finally I think I won't try to fix the plastic film to the rear mudguards; as Geoff wrote it I will make an error it will be expensive + expletives. I will leave them and when they will be more damaged I will take them to be resprayed. You are very fortunate in UK, you have a lot of mechanics who knows about Caterhams and they can solve all mechanics and cosmetic problems and you have a lot of blats and almost weekly meetings to talk about Caterhams, to drive and race together...here in the south of Spain I feel alone...but anyway I enjoy like a baby driving my car and writing-reading all of you here at the club web blatchat. Best wishes and enjoy these days, David.
  25. Maybe you are right Geoff, I can try it. If it results in failure, will be easy to remove the film??, didn't the adhesive product damage the paint??. I was watching PPG web, they have two options, "rear mudguard large" and "rear mudguard L shape", what's the difference between them?, do both of them have the pre cut to save the stainless steel protector mounted from factory?. John, the carbon fiber protectors are very nice but I want to leave the car original (2003 1.6k Roadsport) and it mounted the classic stainless steel protectors from factory. Thank you again.
