  1. Dave, I am based in Granada, south of Spain. I think I won't find anybody here where I live to install protective film and I think it's better I won't do it by myself, as I never had experience with vinyls and protective films and I never saw with my eyes how it is applied . I would like to protect overall the rear wings, they are becoming touched by small stones in the area close to the upper side of the stainless steel protectors and in the outside edges.
  2. Thank you Jonathan, I didn't know about protective films...very interesting option!!. Do you know if products like Autoglym Ultra High Definition Wax will protect also or not??. Thanks again.
  3. Do you know a product to apply to the car to protect the paint against small stones?, it's beginning to appear some marks made by small stones in the sides of the car and the rear wings. Do you know a product that I can use, as amateur (only with a soft cloth, not using any special tool) to protect the paint against small stones?. Thanks, David from Spain.
  4. I am David from Spain, my 2003 1.6 k Roadsport has a pair of "exterior-stanchion-mirror-low-volume" as its written in caterhamparts web place. The grey rubber/plastic edging that fix the mirror to the metalic structure is cracked, do you know where can I buy a new rubber/plastic edging? or must I order to caterhamparts a full new pair of exterior mirrors?. Thank you very much, David.
  5. Hello, I am David from Spain, I finally bought a pair of second hand wind deflectors. I have a doubt about the position of the hinges. I was looking the photos of Caterhams and in some of them the hinges are in the outer side of the deflectors and in some of them the hinges are in the inner side of the deflectors...wich one is the right position??. hinges in the outer side of the deflector hinges in the inner side of the deflector Regards, David.
  6. It looks great, I want one in SIZE L, sun orange colour and the name embroidered on the left chest (DAVID). It must be posted to Spain. Regards, David.
  7. Thank you very much for your answer;, next weekend I will try to find it behind the dash, close to the indicator switch as you told me and I will try to find a new one via internet. Best wishes, David.
  8. I have a 2003 1.6 K Roadsport. Since I bought the car it has an acoustic signal (beep beep...) when I turn the side indicators on; it's fine to remind you they are on. In the last months, sometimes when I turn the side indicators on, the beep takes some seconds to appear; but in the last three weeks it never appears. Do you know if this acoustic indicator is coming from factory in the Caterhams or maybe the last owner installed it?. Do you know where is this relay or acoustic item fixed in the car and where can I buy it via internet (I am from Spain). Regards, David.
  9. Hello, I am David from Spain; I am restoring a 1974 Hispano Aleman Mallorca (Lotus Seven S4). I removed all the front suspension to change bushes and dampers (they were very bad), I ordered the new ones to Redline. I received the parts and now I’m assembling again all the suspension to move the car to the painter. I realized that the new dampers are shorter than the old ones; for sure the old ones were not originals, because in the upper part of the dampers, the bar that links the cylinder with the bush and the top of the damper was hand welded. The height of the car with the old dampers was ok, I hope it will continue ok with these shorter dampers. I tried to assemble the new dampers but the top cylinders with the bushes are wider than the old dampers. When I try to put the top wishbone rear half and the damper in position to fix them with the top wishbone pivot pin, I cannot do it. The top wishbone rear half and the damper cannot go inside their position in the chassis. They are 2 millimeters wider at least. I tried to assemble them with a hammer and they cannot go inside. What must I do?, must I cut the steel tube welded to the chassis?, must I file the new damper and bush?, I don’t know what to do at this point. I show you photos of the problem. Thank you, regards, David. Old and new dampers The top wishbone rear half and old damper in position The top wishbone rear half and new damper cannot go in position Must I cut there or the damper?, I really don't know what to do.
  10. Hello, I am David from Spain. I use to drive my Cat with the doors fitted, because when I remove the doors it's very windy inside the car. I found at Caterhamparts a wind deflectors kit; do any of you tried them?, will they stop the wind inside the cockpit as the doors do?. I am thinking about buying the kit, but I don't know if they will work fine or not. Regards, David.
  11. I am David from Spain, I don't know if the marketplace forum is the right one for this topic. Watching some photos of Caterhams at LowFlying magazine, I realized that some of them have a sticker/decal with the Lotus Seven Club logo at the rear panel; I would like to find one for my Caterham, I was looking for it at Sevenregalia but they don't have them. Do you know where can I buy one of this sticker/decal??. Regards.
  12. I´m David from Spain, the inside central mirror of my 2003 1.6 k Roadsport hides me a lot of vision when I'm driving in sharped bends roads, do you know if exist a central mirror that I can fix in a lower position??, does exist a mirror than can be fixed using the same two holes of that fasteners (I don't want to drill the car) and with a standard windscreen??, where can I find them (if they exist)??. Thank you, David.
  13. Thank you very much for your answers, I feel more calm now. The cycle wings I have are glued with a black adhesive. Will I destroy the cycle wings if I try to detach them?, maybe if I move them more backwards and outwards they won't touch the indicator cones...but if I'm going to damage them I prefer to leave them like they are. Do you know a secure process to detach them??. Thank you again, David.
  14. Hello, I realized in my 2003 Roadsport when I turned the steering wheel at maximum right or left side that the cycle wings are touching the side of the indicator cones. I moved the indicator cones till the point they are not touching when I turn the wheel at maximum but now...it seem like the turning lights are cross eyed when I look the car. The cycle wings are glued, not screwed. Is it possible they are glued in a wrong position and they must be more outside?, if I must change the position...how can I remove them without damaging them being glued?. Thank you very much, David. the point where cycle wing touches turning light in the position that cycle wing doesn't touch...but looks crossed eyes crossed eyes turning lights
  15. Thank you very much for the answers.
  16. I was looking the standard brake pads from caterhamparts, but they only have the front pads, are the rear pads standard Ford Sierra/Scorpio pads??. Regards
  17. Thank you for the advices. Do you know the Nm of torque to reassembly the calliper body after retracting the piston and install the new pads?, must I use also a special glue to fix the nut? In the article at http://www.alcester-racing-sevens.com/rear_brake_pads.htm, it's written: It is also important to ensure that when the tool is removed*, the piston is left with its locating recesses arranged in a North, East, South and West arrangement so that the piston aligns with the locating pin on the back of the brake pad itself. Excuse my ignorance, but what are the locating recesses?, maybe I don't find the right translation of this expression to the Spanish language. Must I use some grease at the rear of the new brake pads to prevent noises when breaking in the future?
  18. I have a sports cam and I would like to records my rides with the Caterham, which support do you use and where can I buy it??, I was looking and I only found supports for small tubes (bikes, motorcycles...). Regards, David.
  19. Thank you very much for the information!!. To retract the rear pistons is it necessary only to push them back or is it also necessary to turn them ( clockwise or anti clockwise) while pushing them back??. Regards
  20. Hello I bought last summer a 2003 Cat 1.6 K Roadsport, when I press the brake pedal at high speed everything is ok, but when I am doing it at 15 mph the brakes are screeching till the car stops and it's very annoying. I was checking the four wheels brake pads and they are almost new (still very thick); I decided to change them for new ones to make disappear the brake screeching at low speeds. First question: which pads for only road use must I fit and where can I buy them?? (I am from Spain but I will order them to UK) Second question:I will do the job by myself as there are no Caterham dealership in Spain and the mechanics here they never saw and worked in a Caterham. I was reading the GTKY7 article about brake pads and they say to bring the car to an experienced person because it will be necessary to retract the piston. I will do it by myself, so...wich specific tool must I buy and what must I do to retract the pistons and change the rear pads??. Thank you very much, regards, David.
  21. Hello, I am David from Spain, I have a 1.6 k roadsport. I was reading at the club web the John Vine's tutorial about the clutch bearing preload. How many of you are using the double spring at the clutch pedal??, is this a thing that the most of you use to do??, I have only one spring at the clutch pedal (as the car came from factory), will I damage my clutch bearing if I continue like this??. Regards, David.
  22. By the way, today I was under the car checking again the gearbox. What is this sensor for?, it is attached to the gearbox at the rear end more or less. Thank you
  23. I think it's very difficult for me to do it, so I will open the level plug and refill if necessary, I will refill with MTL synthetic even if I don't know if the gearbox oil inside the gearbox is a mineral one and then mineral and synthetic will be mixed..
  24. the gearbox is not out, I went under the car and I didn't see the hole to drain it, so, Ian , must I use a vacuum pump to suck it out from the level hole at the side of the gearbox??, the owners handbook says it is 1'9 litre inside the gearbox but anyway I will use the level hole to fill it till the oil will go out. Comma EP75w80 Plus is mineral and MTL is synthetic, which one must I use?, the gearbox is not rebuild. I listened that if you use synthetic oil where it was mineral oil before the oil seals could fail and leak.
