  1. I am David from Spain, I am going to change the 5 gears gearbox oil to my 2003 Caterham 1.6 k series roadsport, I would like to know wich oil must I use: , Comma EP75W80 Plus(mineral),Comma MVMTF Plus 75W-80 (fully Synthetic), Comma SX75W-90 GL-4 (semi synthetic) or Comma EP80W-90 GL-4 (mineral). Thank you very much
  2. John, long strips each side of the bonnet are there from factory or do you decided to attach them there??, mine has no strips there. David
  3. Hello, I am David from Spain, I am going to change the foam strip where the bonnet rest, I was looking at caterhamspares.com and found that the front foam is 25mm wide and the rear foam is 12mm wide. My question is...once the foam is fixed at the car and the bonnet rest in the correct place, the foam must be at the limit of the bonnet or just behind the aluminium fold??. When I look at pictures of Caterhams without the bonnet, the foams has no signals/marks with the form of the aluminium fold, so I think it must be behind the aluminum fold, but the old foam of my car has signals/marks with the form of the aluminium fold (maybe the last owner changed the foam and didn't fix it in the right place, or maybe it must be at the limit of the bonnet). I have no possibilities of checking the right position in other Caterhams as I am the only one with a Caterham in my city, can any of you help me??. Thank you very much.
  4. Thank you very much, I will order one of these decals, I will cut the XPOWER word only, I will remove the old badge where the X is missing and I will attach the new decal.
  5. ok, thank you very much, I will try a local company.
  6. Hello, I am David from Spain, my 2003 Caterham 1.6 k series has a lima green XPOWER badge in the rear panel, just under the CATERHAM decal, the "X" is lost, do you know where can I buy a new badge like this one?, I was looking at Caterhamparts web but I couldn´t find it. Regards
  7. Hello, t shirt received in the south of Spain, perfect size and very good quality, thank you very much for everything Stephen!!!!
  8. Hello, email sent to regalia@lotus7.club Best wishes
  9. For sure I want one, size M please!!. I am from Spain.
  10. This morning I fixed the problem at my car, I went to Leroy Merlin and bought stainless steel rivets, specially for boats, it's written they resist 660 pounds weight (now I can eat whatever I want that the new rivets won't break again ). I put a new silicon string between the floor panel and the frame, then used a hydraulic jack with a piece of wood to fix the panel floor to the frame and put the new stainless steel rivets. Enjoy the sunny weekend (at least in Spain) with your Caterhams.
  11. Hello , I would like to buy the Haynes manual that covers the engine of my car, mi car is a 2003 1.6 K , 16 valves, wet sump, EU3. Do you know which Rover has the closest engine to my Caterham?, so I will buy the Haynes Manual of this Rover. Another question...reading some post in the club I found that some of you are talking about the sump foam of the K series engine, do all the Caterhams K series have this sump foam??, I never heard about this foam in Rover engines. My car is from 2003 and 16.800 miles and I think they never changed the sump foam (in the case my car has it); my car was built for Spain and registered by the first time in Spain and we don't have dealers neither mechanics who knows about Caterhams and their maintenance, so I don't think that previous owners have changed it. Regards, David
  12. Upssss...after reading what Jorge said and watched the photo, I went to my garage and checked the floor panels and it happens the same to my car, there are about six rivets coming out of the frame in the same point that it´s happening to Jorge´s car; it's also in the left hand floor panel, my car is LHD, but I know the owners of the car since it was going out from factory and none of them are more than 176 pounds weight. My car is also a 1.6 k series, as Jorge's one, mine is from late 2003 and low mileage, so I don't know why it's happening; I will fix new steel rivets.
  13. Thank you Revilla for the technical information about the Lambda sensor; mine is EU3, I found for selling in Spain, with the reference you gave me, a sensor built by Magneti Marelli with a nice price.
  14. Jim, thank you very much for helping me with the problem. Thanks to you I learnt that the problem of the car is called "misfire" in english, I didn´t know about this term, this is why I was writing that the car was "giving pulls". Thanks to you I also found that the origin of the misfire was in the Lambda sensor. Best wishes from the south of Spain.
  15. I realized reading many posts that there use to be many problems with the fuel pump in Caterhams...do you think the pulls I am noticing could be because a fuel pump failure??. Sometimes when I stop at traffic lights the engine idle is a little unstable.
  16. Hello Jim, the plugs are now 1 or 1.1milimeters gap, I found in the NGK catalogue that the plugs it has now (KGK PFR6N-11) are recommended for the engine 1.8K but for the engine 1.6K they recommended different plugs (NGK BKR6E). The pulls finish at 3.000rpm more or less, but sometimes (more when it´s cold) it´'s difficult to arrive driving to 3.000rpm...a lot of pulls. Regards, David.
  17. Hello, I am David from the south of Spain, I recently bought a 2003 Caterham Seven 1.6 k series roadsport. When I depress the gas pedal the car goes giving pulls, and more when the car is cold. When I depress the gas pedal in neutral everything is ok, but when I engaged a gear and begin driving, the car begins giving pulls. I checked the spark plugs and the car has NGK PFR6N-11. I was checking at NGK web and they recommends for the car NGK BKR6E. Do you think the car is doing this because it has the wrong plugs??. Thank you very much, best wishes.
  18. Hello Anthony, I don't know which clutch release arm the car have, why??. I don't know what is the integral dry sump tower, I think my car has the standard wet sump. Regards, David.
  19. Thank you John, I will check all these things in the next days, but I think the clutch is extremely hard because the cover clutch is not right. I sent a message to Jonathan Kay asking him about the right assembly guide. Thank to all of you for your answers and your help, regards, David.
  20. Hello SM25T, the clutch is operated by cable, the previous owner gave me a replacement clutch cable, so I think that being so hard of depressing the clutch pedal, maybe the cable was broken at least once with the previous owner and he was always with one of replacement.
  21. Thank you for your answer Jonathan, I downloaded from the club web the assembly guide of the Caterham kit. I will go right now to read the John Vine´s link. Regards, David.
  22. Hello, first of all, I want to introduce myself, I am David from Granada (south of Spain), I was looking for a Caterham in the last years and finally I am the happy owner of one, last month I bought a 2003 1.6 K Roadsport with 16.700 miles. When I depress the clutch I feel it´s very hard; also when I am driving and engage a gear, at the moment of move up the foot from the clutch pedal I feel a "clonk"; and finally when the car is warm and at neutral I can hear noise from the clutch bearing that disappear when I depress the clutch pedal. Because all of these things I think I must replace the whole clutch kit, but here Spain we don´t have Caterham dealer and when I will bring the car to a mechanic to change the clutch, for sure it will be the first time in his life that he will see and work in a Caterham. Must I tell to the mechanic some special advise about changing the clutch for him not to damage my Caterham??, or it´s an "easy" job that any general mechanic can do. Of course I will buy at UK the spares and I will bring them to the mechanic. I found the Helix kit with cover, plate and bearing for selling at some UK webs. Thank you very much, best wishes from the warm south of Spain.
