CSR air filter cleaning

The CSR service schedule adviises clean air filter at annual service and change after 4 years.  How do you clean the Pipercam foam type airfilter.  A quick Google seems to suggest a soak in soapy water and applying C9003/7 additive?

Looking at that video and the time and effort it takes to clean the air filter, I doubt that my air filter was cleaned during any of the past services and up until last year it was always serviced by an authorised CC Dealer.  I might seem picky but it seems to me that it is imperative that the intake is always as clear as possible and not impeded in any way.

Thanks Jonathan   As my CSR is coming up to 4 yo I have bought a new filter from CC as per service schedule.  The centre securing tab requires "fettling" to fit but a sticker in the kit states that it is a lifetime filter and only requires cleaning.

Typically ... I fitted the new filter and then discovered a leak from a heater hose ... and a battery that soon ran flat during an attempt to start (car used at the weekend and prior to that on trickle charger).  Battery 3.5 yo so new one ordered from that nice lady named Tanya
