CtrMint
Guys, You're all mentioning a special bolt. I've fitted what was supplied and described in the manual, m10x20mm cap head. It looks pretty normal to me. Please tell me this isn't going to be a problem for the suspension.Part is described in the Ikea manual as JC Caphead Bolt M10 x 20 BMCH10x20 Roll over bar boss. CharlesElliott
From what I can see, the plates you are bolting up into are upside down U shapes, is that right? On previous chassis they were flat and a cap head would have fouled the top of the rear damper. It looks like they have changed the chassis design to avoid that problem. You can check by offering up a rear damper and putting the top bolt in through the hole in the rear cockpit panel. Mrp
The design has changed my 2009 car has cap head bolts as described and don't foal the dampers.RegardsMrp

Wrightpayne
one last point - you did coppa slip the bolts didn't you? They have been know to sieze on the older bars, then the thin headed bolt shears off.Ian
CtrMint
SM25T I can't see anything to be concerned about. The photo was heavily photoshopped to help to show the bolt alignment etc.
CtrMint
Ian, yes added a small amount to the bolt. I'll cover the area with ACF50 once the car is through the IVA too and keep on top of that too.I am wondering though, why remove them unless you are doing a complete strip down of the car? Wrightpayne
I think because the bar ends sit in a cup water tracks down when it gets wet in the rain and lingers.Ian
