I believe they made about £500 on a watch I sold to them for £4750 .( assuming they sold it for the advertised price )

All the other offers I got were around £3500 so it was a significantly better offer than anywhere else .

if you are thinking of part exchanging they will offer you more ..... but in my case I didn’t go through with the purchase but they maintained the higher offer price .

You can get a valuation on line but it’s subject to them seeing the watch ( and they need proof of your purchase ( in case it’s nicked )) . I booked an appointment and went to their Bond Street premises , you can post it .

Very easy to deal with , no trying to knock the price down once they’ve seen it provided you’ve been truthful with the description .

A Sub is a easy buy for anyone , they won’t go down in value .

These watches generally sell quite well - a Rolex Sub doesn't lose money, quite the opposite, especially a 'full set'.

A recent Rolex Service adds value, or needs to be allowed for, if not, as these are c.£550 + and take 2-3 months.

However, definitely worth getting the Watchfinder quote (they are normally quite good for a trade buyer) and then see if anyone on here wants to outbid them.

Thanks, as someone with little knowledge I'd kind of have expected that all to be a given at this price point ;-]

I understand that Rolex hold their value quite well, Whats the new price for a similar timepiece (seems to be a confusing array of prices and options)?

£6550 now according to a quick Google .

BUT

Its almost impossible to buy a new Rolex sports model without a long wait .Ive had my name down for a Blue /Black GMT for nearly two years now . Currently £6850 new , secondhand £9-11,000 ! The new  Black/ Red GMT is £7150 new , selling for £14,000 plus secondhand .

Buy wisely and you wont loose anything on a sports model Rolex .

Huw , Your watch is looking like a bargain !!

Bizarrely, Rolex at Geneva airport has these models in stock 'to go' but the dealer in town does not have the Black/Red GMT (but has the blue/black version). Academic rally as I was just 'looking' but it certainly seems that the value of these things are going a bit 'ford escort AVO' crazy on the used market.

I regret not buying a used HULK sub a few years ago for £2.5k.....but thankful that my inherited 1963 sub with original bracelet and dome acrylic is locked away safe and sound.....

I do hanker after a pepsi bezel GMT though....
