Blue_SV
HiAt MOT today, the tester noted some play in one of the droplinks on rear ARB. He suggested replacement. I checked the Caterham site and there are 2 options: 1991 onwards (£19) or metric (£31)!I have a 2003 SV - anyone advise on which option is required? Car is not at home so I cannot easily check.ThanksJon
SM25T
I got fed up with these droplinks rattling on my 2002 SV ... so I removed the rear ARB completely. Car handles so much better now ... especially on bumpy corners. With the ARB ... It would transfer bumps from one wheel across to the other so the car would hop sideways. Now, if one wheel is bumping, the other stays planted.
Paul McKenzie
Does it also ground the silencer on a trackday?
SM25T
If you are asking me ... I don't do trackdays. Never grounded silencer or tailpipe on the road.
Area Representative Richard Price Posted August 23, 2018 Area Representative Share Posted August 23, 2018 Jon,Yours would be the earlier ones (imperial to metric change was 2007ish).However, as SM25T says, I'd also say to remove the rear ARB all together!I've run with and without a rear ARB, but find the handling more consistent without the rear ARB.'doesn't seem to slow me down not having a rear ARB :-)
Blue_SV
Interesting - thanks all. I will give it a try without. Jon
Mark Durrant
JonI agree on the road the ride will be improved by disconnecting the rear ARB droplink however, on track you need to be careful as this may introduce understeer depending on driving style, front ARB, springs, rake etc. If your looking for alternatives there are a couple listed in this thread.See you at Curborough
Steve Sheldon
JonJust take them off and fill them with grease and refit. Takes a few minutes.Disconnect one end and tiewrap up and only use for trackdays or similar. Not part of the MOT.
