mark_w
Can't be sure its the only place , but getting a leak from this sender so going to change for one i have in my spares (pic2) although that one has two terminals so would it work with just the existing wire in place or need additional wiring? do i need to drain the oil for this ? and what do people use on the thread as a sealer PTFE tape (is that allowed on cars) or I've used a blue gasket sealer before thanks Mark
rj
Mark,As discussed on the phone, this is likely not to be an OE installation. You need to connect one of the terminals of the new sensor to earth and the other to the spade connector on the wire you have.If you're unlucky the signal will be inverted meaning that the warning lamp comes on when you've got sufficient oil pressure, but we will sort that should it be the case. SM25T
As you don't need to get an earth connection through the thread on the body, you can use PTFE tape ... Just make sure there is no flying tail inside the oil way to come loose.
elie boone
Is there is no copper washer between sensor and T piece ?
rj
If the thread is tapered you don't need to pack
elie boone
If it would be tapered it wouldn't be so close to the T piece.
Roger King
Degrease thoroughly and use one of Loctite's thread sealants.
